Default Whats the point of this game?

I bought this game yesterday and have been playing it pretty much non stop since then....

I already feel like I have done everything this game has to offer me...

    anyone have any suggestions?

There are no quests, no real goals at all. Ohh I gotta take over a base or something, but WHATS THE POINT?!

If you were expecting quests and the like you bought the wrong game.

This game is the same as all other FPS in as much as you kill the enemy. Along the way capturing bases.

Sure it is fairly repetative but certainly no more than playing Dust on CS 50 times in a row.

I find the game really comes alive when you get a good squad and can actually take on the enemy. A squad I was in last night was really smooth and we done a lot of caps and kills.

Some people just wont find this game appealing, such is the way with lots of games.

I guess I didn't really make my point clear...

Im not angry at the game mechanics Im angry at the fact that is NO different than any other online FPS but still they make us pay for it.

Most likely when my free trial is up I will cancel my subscription.

Well its down to wether you fell its worth paying for. The only other online FPS i have played are CS and RtCW.

I like the fact that PS gives me

    Vehicles

    A basic skill progression

10 person squads nearly all the time

A serious option to solo if I choose

    Big battles involving 50+ people

    A persistant world

A website showing individual and outfit stats as well as current world status

A choice of 3 teams and therefore 2 enemies.

    3 way battles

    Big continents with great graphics

CS and RtCW don't give me these so I feel its worth the cost.

Did you like Tribes? Do you like the idea of 100+ person battles? Do you like the idea of a global battle field with 3 factions? Then your now a PS addict. Its Tribes on the scale of a MMOG.

What's up with everyone needing justification to blow each other up? Do you honestly need a reason to shoot at your fellow man? I think the entire premise of this game is hilarious. The NC and VS broke off from the TR and then for reasons unknown started shooting at each other as well. Its like the NC just kinda said "well the TR are assholes so we have to kill them. And the Vanu are just plain wierd so lets kill them too!" They probably just feel threatened by our stylish purple atire.

    Never played Tribes...

Anyones right now on my Terran I have Medium Assault, and Reinforced Armor, I have 3 certification points left and I am BR4. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should get? Weill Heavy Assualt let me kill things any faster than Medium Assault or does it just work better on heavy armored ships and tanks??

    Thanks

You can get a good idea of what the different weapons do in the VR training. You get all different targets to shoot so can see the effect each weapon has.

What certs you buy all depends on what you want to do as your role. I mainly fly. I have Galaxy, reaver and currently med assualt, I'm saving points now to get the new aircraft when they come out. A bomber and vehicle transport. Being able to get troops into battle gets me a lot of groups.

You can also unlearn certs. Although it says on the screen that you cant spend them for 24 hours thats false. You can spend them immediatly but cant unlearn more for another 24 hours.

If your in an outfit its worth seeing what roles need filling.

If you've never flown a reaver in a dogfight, dodging missles, cutting thru bases watching others try to follow you but slam into the walls all while dropping a payload of missles on their ant right before they can recharge...

Then your missing out on alot.. other than the VS tanks its the only vehicle where your skill counts, In my experince.

In a tank fight its 90% who ever has the better tank

in most ground fights i'd sadly say almost all the fights are won by who has the most numbers, and how long it takes your sdp/friendly fighters to get back to the fighting from where ever the closest spawn point to the fighting. Mostly because hardly any groups will actually rally work together with any kind of strategy..

But in the air its your ability to fly the plan vs your opponents.

So far I've only seen one enemy pilot that would try the same kind of manuvers as me... I hate the people that do nothing but fly in a circle, it gets so old

I'd say one of the best/funnest things you can do when you see a fleet of reavers and such over a base you and your outfit wants to take over. You take your reaver get max altitude and bank right thru the middle of them and blow the hell out of one of the vehicles down there. That'll get everyone attention Save all your afterburners because as soon as you light up the jeep or even just a strip of land where people can see you (the more attention the better) your going to get missle locked msg's all over the place. Hit the afterburner, hopefully before that you will be low enough you will get past the base wall, and behind it so you lose the majority of the missles.

The best scenario for you is if there is a canyon, or better yet trees near the base that you can fly thru. Its pretty much guarenteed no one will follow you thru them, so you get a couple of secs to gain some more afterburner.

After that its pretty much whatever you want to do. You can try and take out some of the reavers, or just get the hell out of there and hopefully they will keep following you.

If you are feeling really lucky you can make another close pass by the base to draw away even more people from the base...

And trust me almost everyone will follow you if they can see you.

Their bored everyone hates waiting for the base to cap or worse yet waiting on their leader to make up the next plan.

They'll follow you or the other planes and tanks and by the time they turn around your squad will be breaking into the CC, and alot of good all those vehicles will help once your grp gets inside the building.

Anyways thats about my favorite thing to do.

Thats funny Ryu your flight tactics in a reaver sound just like my flight tactics in a gal lol. I've rammed reavers out the sky in Gals purely because reaver pilots dont expect an offensive gal pilot.

try out the AP max.. the one with the dual guns, i think their cyclers. ive heard it eats up personal AND vehicles pretty good.

also try the cycler gun out, ive seen it being used by my brother who took it from a dead terran (we play NC) and it seemed pretty damn good.

those are the 2 most common terran things ive seen, cycler and cycler max.. the firing rate on both are hella fast.

*not first hand experience, i play NC but ive seen them being used by ALOT of people.. so id guess they gotta be alright.*

My preference for three points was Special Assault though.

hahaaha Azzurez, its pretty fun when you see a gal take out a couple of reavers like that.

wish there were more people that'd actually try and put up a fight with their gal's

They always just bail out, if it were me in the gal I'd atleast bail out while flying into a tank or something.

God! People actually try to fly Galaxys into combat?? If someone in a Reaver allows a Galaxy to ram, then they don't know how to fly. The Galaxy moves and turns SLOW. I jist hover behind (take mabe 3 or 4 gun hits); let loose a volly of missles, and wath the Galaxy get lit up and blow, or do a bellyflop into the ground.

I also watch to see whoejects so I can gun them down as they bail. But yes, flying in this game is FUN. I started one session saying to myself "I'll play for an hour or so"; and 4 hours later...

Also, if you have a headset, but can't get the voice over IP to work for you, you might just want to download the "Roger Wilco" shareware. It runs fine in the background with PS (doesn't violate any EULA here); and allows you to talk to your squadmates (and anyone else on your channel) in realtime. Very effective for large group coordination).
