I was excited when they said Wrath's hero class might be rune-master, a martial arts/healer class, glad to see it making it to WoW under a different name!

Also looks like Blizz learned from Cataclysm's failures. ESPECIALLY the art department. I've never been as underwhelmed by WoW's art as I have in Cataclysm, excluding Uldum and its related instances of course. The initial Mists screenshots look amazing. Wonderful!

The Annual pass for WoW looks tempting too. You get: WoW for a year at a reduced rate, a $60 game free (D3, I can deal w/ bad DRM if it's free), and a neat mount for WoW. The free game is what does it for me, makes the deal more than worth it. Especially since I seem to 'quit' WoW every 4 months for 2-3 months at a time, it'll just save me the hassle of resubbing.

got pretty much all known information on the main website now, which is not much, as i go on (and i know i will be in the beta with the annual pass) i'll fill in skills etc.

overall comments i have heard from blizzcon is the monk style is well, either love it or hate it but it seems to be falling more on the love it side, until i try it.......

I chuckled when I read that the Monk will have no-auto attack, since that's one of the points about SWTOR that people complain about and/or like.

It made me wonder if WoW was experimenting doing that to be "trendy" like SWTOR.

Hey dude, haven't seen you around in a few years.

Without a doubt I'll play this. Unfortunately, it will still be a couple of years before we see it.

    P.S.

I would also like to take this time to say it's good to have all the myths and rumors about the Pandaren and Monks in Warcraft finally out the door, even if Blizzard took their sweet time about it.

I was always disappointed that they didn't have a monk class, this really is quiet interesting. with a three year old in my life I doubt i have time to go nuts, but I still have an account, I may get the upgrades and try this out for a month or 10.

I thought about it but as soon as I read its going to be arcade style I'm not even going to bother now.

I quit WoW because of the rediculous requirements to mash keys more than you have to in EQ. It doesn't make a game fun.

there is a fine balance between too many and not enough keys to press...

as a shaman - enhance spec

i am pressing a button during a fight -pretty much every 1.5 seconds(global cooldown) to 3 seconds

as a healer i am pressing a button every ~2-3 seconds

as a druid, again every ~1.5-3 seconds
    as a hunter...agaiin every 1.5 to 3 sec
    as a mage------ditto

i donot find it annoying at all...

I hit way more buttons as a monk in EQ then any class I've played in WoW (Pally, mage, druid, dk, rogue, hunter, warrior). Flying kick every six seconds, disarm, VS, dreamwalkers, stunning kick, cloud of fists, drunken monkey - that's basically constant buttons. In wow there's a global cooldown atleast.

I played an 80 warlock, hated the mashing. Eq monks at nowhere as bad.

    Why do you hit disarm?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they also say they were simplifying some class mechanics as well with this expansion? It looked to me like they were streamlining the talent trees, reducing the amount of abilities, etc. I would think that would compensate some and dictate exactly how much button smashing you would be doing. I would be all for a monk class that has no auto attack if the abilities I did push hit like a truck to compensate. I could imagine it would lead to a jousting type playstyle in PvP which I would think would be pretty fun.

If done the way twofists describes I wouldn't have a problem if it's done like they attempted to make it in AoC then I'd pass (not that I play anymore)

I played a high end raider with a lock, hunter (main) and DK (many more classes just not serious raiding) and the lock didn't have all that many more buttons to press. You just had to do a bit more mental gymnastics with the dots. This excludes the brief time hunters had the ALL in ONE macro... I guess even then I pressed the same amount of buttons just the same one over and over and over again.

With the GCD I'd imagine no class really had all that much more mashing vs the others.

They talked about talents at BlizzCon... something about getting a choice of 1 of only 3 talents every 15 levels or something?

ya basically for talents -as they exist now- are GOING AWAY!!!!

now then how they currently have it

every ~15 levels you get a "talent"

one of 3 choices for that talent level choice

you can never EVER have 2 talents of the same line- only one.

but they are making it easy to change talents, like changing glyphs pretty much

one fight you need more ae damage and this one line of talents has a single target damage boost, a ae damage boost and something else

you choose to use the ae talent
next fight you need single target damage you click the change and you now have the talent for more single target damage.

    like that

    other MAJOR MAJOR changes

Relic Slot - gone (druids shaman & umm paladins)
    Hunter range dead zone- GONE
Hunter ability to Melee- GONE- a hunter will wield a BOW/Gun/Crossbow ONLY no weapons AT ALL.
warrior/rogue range slot- GONE- they will "throw" their weapons.
Wands will be a WEAPON SLOT ITEM (cloth casters-mages warlock priest?)

See another reason why I quit WoW. Why do they keep gutting the game and starting from scratch?

Actually the game only suffered several minor revisions up to Wrath of the Lich king, most of them being changes to stats. IE, the removal of fire spell damage, spell hit, healing power, etc. It was to make gearing up simpler. Most changes were additions rather than revisions, such as badges to purchase gear, heroic modes, etc. There were a couple of class mechanic changes to make the classes less clunky, but it didn't change the core of the class. For example, rage gain was normalized and energy regen was changed to constant instead of in tics.

Cataclysm heralded the large scale revamping of the game. Hunters lost mana and gained focus, Warlocks soul shards were changed to a limited resource with limited options to get it back, Paladins got holy power, Priests gained healing stances and DPS healing, Death knights talent trees were given specific roles, etc. Ability scaling was massively reduced in cataclysm, a fresh 85 was less effective than a geared 80 which is different than any other expansion at launch. You also have the change from quest hubs to linear questing.

The largest change to a class prior to Cataclysm was the change to windfury totem if I remember correctly, I could be wrong. I attribute the revamps to the crew running WoW currently. The people who made the original WoW, TBC and Wrath moved onto Blizzard's other projects. For example Jeffrey Kaplan, AKA Tigole.

Side note: I've played WoW too much and too long if I can recall all this....

biggest change to a shaman is several fold

1 you can drop both earth and fire elementals now
2- you can drop all 4 totems AT ONCE
3- they changed manatide from a fixed amount to raising spirit by umm 1200ish...
    4- unleash elements--love it
    5 ae healing (healing rain)
6 boosted enhance significantly-same with healing spec.
    7...made totems raid wide

windfury totem's change when from extra attacks to just a attack power boost.

the upcoming changes to wow's shaman class i will ahve to play to see if i like but i do not like they way they are taking the class. they are making it more paladin like
