    Default Brainstorming

My initial thought was for each of us to come up with a niche that they could create a site around. I'd still like to do this as I think the information we could learn from all having a similar site and promoting them differently would be quite valuable, regardless of the type of site you may set up next.

As an example of this kind of site, I will use my wife's 'store'. I set this store up for her today and there is still much to add - content wise.

WARNING: If you are allergic to pink, avoid this site at all costs.

    www.cherishedhearts.com

I have several other sites using the same software.

    Anyway, it's just an example.

Another example would be a simple video site. Check out http://videos.carfiend.com/find.php?...est+-II+-2+-11 as an example. Very simple to set up and run.

I have a great many scripts and we can do just about anything you can think of.

So, what are you thinking of?

Oh, I also have a Blog site up and running that anyone can use. The URL is www.outtamymind.org and it is running wordpress. We'll get in to it later, but a blog can be a great source for traffic.

I am thinking of a site targeted to strippers, escorts, and fbsm masseuses. Or porn stars.

Designing their websites for them, and doing their photoshoots for them.

The images would need to be in Flash, so that if people are going to try and steal the images, they would have to do a screenshot(not many people know how to do that, or rather it is more difficult that copy/paste). Ok, ok, it is not more difficult, just more obscure.

They would need member/visitor type access. As well as ssl eBusiness shit(with CC verification) to sell stuff like videos or panties or used dildos.

I have been thinking about creating a blog for my dog. (I am serious)

Cuteoverload.com gets an insane amount of traffic. I thought a blog from my dog's perspective about life would be an interesting and disgustingly cute idea that could potentially draw traffic.

She is a puppy now, so now is the time to do it since the world is new for her. It could potentially be some fun reading.

The problem would be content - how frequently do you plan to update it?

Good point. I could easily do 3 times a week right now with no problem, but in a couple of months it would get old. Damn. Didn't think of that.

You could have a webcam hooked up to him showing everyone what he goes through in a day, then invite the viewers to write the blog.

    Just remember to wear underwear.

There are a few sites dedicated to escort services, strip clubs, etc, and their reviews.

    They do quite well.

Puppies do continue to grow and do things long after 3 months. Maybe you can add in reviews of pet products or something? Local dog walking / sitting / boarding companies.. There is always something to write about.

You never know what is going to catch on what isn't.

For instance, the 2g1c website, made over 100k in 3 months and then he sold it for several times that amount. He didn't even own the video clip that was shown on that site.

    Sure there are.
But most of the actual service providers don't have sites. And many of them want one.

    For example
    http://classifieds.myredbook.com/cla...php?adid=68771
    Web Site
    :
    http://COMING-SOON

How did he make the money?

    The video is free.

Advertising? Who would advertise there? Malware, spammers, and virus writers maaaybee.

There are apparently 123 different ways to monetize your web site.

    Traditional banner ads are 1.

Mostly, his ads were to other fetish wesbites. Strange thing about your average porn user that don;t actually pay. They hop from site to site looking at the freebies. When they exhaust one site, they click an ad on that page to go to the next one .

Sites like youporn and xtube with their unlimited free porn actually don;t make as much money as the pay sites with limited porn. Once you end up on youporn, you don;t really have to go anywhere else so their ads are clicked less.

how about a site for men to exchange valuable information regarding "Becomming a man".

ie. investment 101's, dating tips/concerns, how to protect your estate, etc etc. i sure wish i had something like that back in the early '90's.

a lot of people on here talk about economy cars and saving gas, using Linux laptops powered/charged with solar panels...etc etc etc.

what i'm thinking of is a site that i wished i would have seen back in the day that would have lead me along more effeciently and more wisely.

oh, and we can include escort/stripper information, but i honestly don't know mucha bout that (legality or otherwise).

That would be a great site.

A man's guide to life with life split up in to different categories. Health, legal, marriage, divorce, children, exercise, etc.

This site is going to take a lot of time and should have very little advertising to start. You need experts in every field willing to write guides and field questions. Partnerships with magazines to reprint some of their articles would be the easiest, but one of the most expensive way to do it. Hiring your own experts to write content would be fairly expensive also. You will have to generate content for a few months before it catches on. Unless you have a way to get the content for free, it's going to cost you something in time and money.

    It's all about the content.

I had thought about a site along those lines several years ago when I first moved out. I had moved out and 2500 miles away so my family wasn't really there for me. It's amazing how much stupid crap you don't realize you don't know about.

You could do a lot of this without experts, at least to get it started, and if you had it setup in a Wiki-style (even if you went with an Admin-approval required format) you could draw on the experiences of others pretty easily.

Some examples that come to mind: Dry-clean only tags/laundry in general, Fixing a leaky faucet, Easy but healthy recipes and things to cook (including what to buy at the store and what to keep stocked up in the fridge/cupboard), creating a monthly budget and saving money....

There's a lot of crap that most of us already know and a lot of people that don't already know it.

I know the thing that would have helped me the most was a calendar/set of reminders about the basics like bills being due, tax time, elections, birthdays, whatever else I used to typically forget about.

I'd like to make a site, kinda like the man site but specializing in IT and related nerdy stuff. I think we could all participate.

The focus would be helping others get a job in the IT field and deal with challenges that we face there. Everything from which classes to choose in college, building a tailored resume, dealing with headhunters, interviewing skills, negotiating a salary, becoming a consultant or building your own IT consulting business.

Several sites deal with these but in parts. They are somewhat general or don't deal with IT specifically. Example, dice.com has a rudimentary message board but could be so much more. Like every other message board, posts are basically anonymous. The MS MVP system is a good guide because people are verifiable and, therefore, accountable. But that just focuses on MS.

    Thoughts?

I would find a site like this particularly useful, especially considering I wanna get a job in Computer engineering (with Computer Science being my back up major).
