Heart attacks are nothing.
They are hardly even expensive.
I deal with heart attacks all the time...nothing. Cheap!
Obesity kills much slower. And costs WAY more. The stay in ICU is some of the most expensive, really expensive, healthcare that you taxpayers and insurance payers pay for. I have had obese patients in ICU for over 2 months, at over 10K a day, just for the room, not counting drugs, interventions, surgeries, Dr bills, and tests. Couple mil each, at least. And then to eventually die of being fat.
Obesity causes Diabetes. Which kills the nerves and arteries in your kidneys. Kills the nerves and arteries in your legs. You start loosing toes, and it is painless(you have no pain sensation). You lose the nephrons in your kidneys. You can't make urine properly. The waste chemicals of your metabolism build up(you can't pee them out). They start to overload the liver. The liver starts to die. We don't have artificial livers, when you lose yours, and you can't get a transplant, you are going to die a painful drawnout death.
You have no circulation to your lower extremities, your legs. So surgeons slowly cut off the dead blackened meat. Bit by bit, until they get up to your thighs. Antibiotics can't reach the infected sections of your body, because the blood flow has stopped(the high glucose has killed all the vessels). Bacteria slowly eats at you from the toes up, your immune system can't get there because there is no blood flow. And docs chop off the pieces as it moves up your body. When you have two stubby raw ham bone thighs, that is about when you buy the farm. All yellow skinned, yellow eyes, because your liver is seeping bile into your blood, you have destroyed the tissue in your biliary tracts, and it just seeps out. Bile, that green shit you puke, when your stomach is empty, you know how that tastes??? it is flowing in your bloodstream now.
You can't pee, so your blood pressures increase. You risk a stroke. You pop a vessel in your brain, and the fluid pushes your brain out of the hole in the base of your skull. You herniate, which compresses the respiration center, and you can no longer breath on your own. You are on a ventilator, and are brain dead. Hopefully you have had a Living Will written up, hopefully your family is merciful, and has you made DNR, and we pull the plug on you.
Obesity is very expensive healthcare. Even without heart attacks.
Heart attacks, these days? In and out in less than a week. If you made it into the hospital. You are going home. Heart attack, is not what is going to kill you, these days. If you go to the hospital. Cheap! Short stay.
