Or just something i never knew about?

Was pl'ing my wifes shamen up some today (trying to get her to 51 fairly fast) and went to drop a spiny mace a mob droped on the ground (trash loot) but it landed on her pet instead so i just hit trade. Well i have other hits on and notice that it was now crushing and not biting, so i handed it a dagger that was laying on the ground from earlier. The pet was now quad hitting for up to 51 max a hit (level 49 pet btw.)

So now i was very interested and kill off this pet and /log on. Made a new pet put no buffs on it and kill 10 dark blue to me mobs with the shamen tanking and the pet attacking from behind the mob. I then gave it weapons and did 10 more mobs, and finally gave it a Muzzle of Mardo from a mage that was beside me and was interested in it too and killed 10 more mobs (all dark blue to me at 54.)

Now i know 10 of each is a very small pool to get averages but it did show a pattern.

No weapons = 8.93 DPS

Weapons = 24.36 DPS

Weapons + muzzle = 29.37 DPS

So have i just never known that shaman pets could use weapons or is this something new?

Shhhh. Keep it quiet, so shaman pets stay overpowered. Everyone knows a shaman is a monk's best friend.

Its been openly discussed on the BST forum since it was noticed in the last patch, even has a sticky in the general forum.

It seems that BST warders BITE using the H2H skill which is capped at some abysmal level on a pet. Giving weapons makes the skill cap for that weapon be used instead resulting in much more damage.
