View Full Version : What is the problem with opening doors?

With the new UI, it seems pretty much impossible (at least in the Kael Arena).
I pretty much had to wait for the Zeks to agro thru the doors to open them.
Anyone else had this problem?

Yes, on some doors, although on larger doors I've always noticed a few issues.
A really bad one is the portal from Fungus Grove to TS.
Normally I can run to it, and just click as I run towards it and I port.
With the new UI, I literally had to stand right on the portal, turn sideways and click many times to get it to port.

I'd never gotten around to using the FG->TS portal until after the new UI had been released. When I tried using the portal for the first time, clicking on it wouldn't work at all, so I figured clicking wasn't the activator. Now when I use it, I just hit the 'u' key as I'm running up...works every time, even when I hit 'u' mid-stride.
I've had doors that didn't want to work by clicking the mouse, but those were gotten around by the same method...hitting 'u'.

I tried the 'u' key. I think that was what finally opened the door, was not sure as I had to stand so close to it the Zek Brothers agro'd. It seemed to open a bit before they decided to play kick the monkie./shrug
You would think that something like opening doors would have gotten tested.
Their statement 'We are not going to release until it is ready' at the Fan Faire...yeah right. What are the going to do call us all paying beta testers?
Normally I'm pretty easy going. It is shit like this that really chaps my butt. You would think they should have a more rigorous testing plan after getting burned so many times. It a professional level of incompetency to not learn from your mistakes after so long.

they have learned.
playtesting is hideously hideously expensive. As long as they can get the majority of the big bugs out, than the product is shippable, because it can be patched later. The sooner they ship a product, the sooner they recoup their losses on playtesting and start making profit
and yes, having a giant crew of Beta testers is wonderful.

With the larger doors, I've always had to get close to the "hinge" side of the door for it to open for me. If I'm at the other side of the door I can never get it to open even if I'm standing right on top of it. This has always been the case, pre and post new UI. YMMV.

You don't HAVE to use the new UI, just turn it back off. Then you have nothing to bitch about.

This probably has to do with the same bug as not being able turn in the items for the WF.
The client is not getting the correct information for the distance to the mob.
Wow Smada, rarely have I seen someone miss the point as far off as you. Thanks for the chuckle.
