Vale Reinforced Leather (pattern + high quality brute hide + acorn oil + steel bonings, combined in a Vale Sewing Kit)

will supposedly take you over 160 for tailoring skill.

Only problem is I think you have to be a halfling to make it.

First of all I disagree with skill point allocated to this skill at all. You can make silk bandages for free and becomes trivial at 26.

2 spiderling silks=silk thread

2 silk threads=1 stackable silk bandage

There is a under ground chamber in FoB that loads lots of spiderlings and every once and a while a rare spawn appears with a necklace or piercing weapon(rare).

Better at low lvls then useing skill points I think. I personally think skill points should be saved for when componets are rare and costly that one should use skill point to get to a trivial. Just my 2cps.

I went from raw silk straight to cured, after trying to do the studded/reinforced route. In my experience, it's much easier to just auction to buy swatches while making kiolas, rather than having to deal with the much rarer and unstackable pelts. Not to mention that on most servers, the market for studded/reinforced is practically nil compared to all the monks trying to snatch up cured.

EDIT: forgot to mention, naturally the success rate on cured will be pretty low, so it's easiest just to make masks until you get your skill to at least 50 (one kiola + one swatch + pattern)

You cant use skill points in a trade skill after a certain point, so using them as the first 20 is a good use of them.

Good guide. The silk bandages is also a good suggestion, unless you're also smithing, in which case you're going to want to save all the silk thread you can for leather padding.

For after raw silk, I'd suggest both cured and studded leather. Make studded leather when you have MQ pelts, but don't count on it to raise skill. If you have druid friends, they'll love getting studded leather as a gift. You might even be able to sell some, but don't expect to make a lot. Also check the triv level of the bags that use MQ pelts. Save you the smithing expense, although it will require silk thread (3 silk thread = silk cord, needed for most bags).

Once cured is triv., you can work in reinforced with HQ wolf pelts (again requires smithing). HQ cat pelts better used for quivers. But also start right in with crystalline silk.

Luclin introduced a number of nice new tailored recipes. One set in particular is a nice step up from, or alternative to cured silk for training up.

Greyhopper Hide Shoulderpads [AC 8, wt 0.2]

1 Greyhopper Hide + 1 shoulderpad pattern combined in a loom or tailoring kit.

Trivial at 87-88 skill.

Greyhopper Hide Boots [AC 6, wt 1.0 (2% to safe fall)]

1 Greyhopper Hide + 1 boot pattern combined in a loom or tailoring kit.

Trivial at 95 skill.

Greyhopper hides drop from greyhoppers in Marus Seru on Luclin. Greyhoppers are non kos (but social) common mid 20s wandering mobs. The pelts stack, can be traded, and drop about 1 in 3 kills.

hunted in EK for hours and saved hq/silk/mq

the time i got the all mq pelts to go to 56, i had save the silk and hq to jump to ~100.

im at 83 now, and working a bit on greyhopper, as they still give me points, and are really easy to get. i will spend my saved hq pelt from EK when i will hit 88, i guess.

anyone know a way to go further the 158 limit, without spending 5hours to get items for one combine ?

There is NO fast way to powerlevel Tailoring, like there is for the other tradeskills.

The only options you have are:

A) Hunt for the rare Velious or Luclin drops yourself

B) Pay for the items in /auction

C) Pay friends/guildies, acquantences for them to all help you farm them

I've been at 155 for five months, since I got sick of Wu's and my supplier of Viscous Mana told me no more till 30th level. Well, I hit 34 recently, but I'm still not all that interested in making Wu's. I've made a lot of money making and selling it, but I am saving my silks for my Vah Shir BST.

Now, I have a couple people that will supply me with materials, when they can. Still, I've only had three attempts in the last five months, on Pantherskin, no successes or skill ups.

It's a long, painfull, slow road past 158 in Tailoring, unless you have a lot of money to throw away at getting other people to farm the stuff for you.

Good luck,

Ghoumer

as a side option - I did tailored quivers from 80 to 115(?) when they became trivial -

1 HQ cat pelt and quiver pattern

maybe a little more expensive, but less click intensive

I'd carry around a couple stacks of patterns, and would combine on the road instead of finding a city with all the necessary other components.

The answer is..... www.eqtraders.com

If its a tradeskills question go there, they know more about anything than we can ever tell you here, except maybe the sublte art of pulling, Laff.

Kioala Sap can be bought in Rivervale at the tavern.

Silver Thread (along with Gold, and whatnot) can be bought in Cabilis.

I don't have the name of the vendor in Cabilis, but he is in West Cabilis off to the right sort of to the Necromancer guild (I believe it's the necro guild). In any case, it's there, I saw it on the merchant about a week ago while exploring a bit.

Hope this helps.

Silver Thread can also be bought in Thrug.

And I'd recommend the Tailored Quiver route. Want to make some money doing it? Go collect a few stacks of Silk Threads(2 spiderling silks) and have a skinning knife. Now head to Stonebrunt mountains an start killin cats, many drop multiple pelts, and usually 1 is HQ. Make a quiver with the HQ one, use the knife to get any MQ's to LQ and combine the LQ's with a thread for a LEATHER PADDING. with the recent smithing changes, people are paying mad cash for leather padding so they can skill up smithing(evil fine plate)

Hi,

If you're not high enough level to hunt the spiders for Crystalline silk, then tailored quivers (as mentioned by another poster here) is the way to go. 1 HQ cat pelt and a pattern = 6-slot, 22% wt reduction quiver. Those will get you all the way to 115 and if you still aren't high enough to get the silk, it's straight into Wu's.

As far as going over 158 is concerned, I just hit that point last week - Acrylia studded or cultural seems to be the way to advance past there to start with. All Velious combines are over 250 trivial, so you need to bridge the gap with something! Looks like it's acrylia studded/mithril reinforced for me. Shaded hide armour also trivials in the low 220's, so that might be an option when acrylia studded tops out at 188.

Picnic Basket untill 88 I believe.

Woven mandrake root until 78 I believe. Thn mandrake root is vendor bought, a bit expensive though, but skill increases rapidly making the woven mandrake root. Then the woven root plus steel bonings yields picnic baskets. Very easy.

I didn't bother reading the ENTIRE list of replys, but best place to get MQ pelts ( for medium size armour, but shouldn't really matter what size your making, unless your actually gonna wear this stuff )

anyways, best place to get MQ pelts: Stonebrunt

the cats that roam around ALL drop MQ pelts, so uh, grab your wt redux bags, and head out on a trek!
