I can't answer your first question unfortunately, but Netflix is awesome. If I mail the movies before the mail pick up, I can usually get my new ones the next day.

How do they get it out to you so fast? Do local rental business participate in it and send out whatever they have? or do they have store-houses in each state?



I'm in Hawaii so curious as to how quickly I'd get them.

I know they have a distrobution office here in Dallas, so my DVDs come in extremely fast.



For your initial question; Each DVD within a collection counts as 1 DVD. So if you add a collection/season with 6 DVDs within it, it would be 6 DVDs in your queue.



I have no clue how quickly it would take your DVDs to get out to Hawaii or if they have a distro office out there.

One DVD is one DVD. In boxed sets, each dvd comes sperately. Was annoying when we were trying to watch Shogun.



They have a few processing centers all over the country. Here, the local one is about 50 miles away. So, we got three (drop in mail, they recieve and mail new DVD next day, we get it the day after that) day turnarounds on DVDs.



I'm not sure if they have one in HI or not, but I'd assume they'd almost have to to make it even vageuly useable there.

Works as one DVD. Say you order LOTR extended edition. That counts as one movie, and it comes with 2-4 different discs.

Only good. 15-17 bucks a month when you can have 3? movies out at once, thats a $15 rental right there, or atleast $45 to buy em all. The service is exactly how it's portrayed.

I live in Chicago, so there's a distribution center somewhere in the city, I'm sure.



Hawaii? Lucky @#%$. I don't know about the distribution there though. Maybe on their website? But I'm sure you already checked.



It's worth trying it out. Hey, spend 30 bucks, try it for a couple of months and see how fast it works for you. If it sucks, then cancel.

I had Netflix for about half a year. I liked it, but the turn around time was pretty slow for me. I tend to watch alot of movies. Near the end it usually took me 7-9 days from the time I mailed something back to the time I got another movie in the mail. When I first subscribed it was more like 4-5 days. I kind of miss it, but in my own experience the turn around time was way too long.

I'm using netflix and Gamefly.



3 dvd's and 2 games out constantly for 35ish a month total.



Personally I don't like blockbuster and won't do business with them. (Send me a bill for a $3 late charge? Great way to make sure I never come back)

I was looking at their site and they made it seem like TV series were 1 set, unlike blockbuster which seperated them out into individual disks.



Cause if you can get TV seasons in one mailing, I would definatly sign up for that.

I have had Netflix since it opened and started to do business, at first it was a 5 day turn around time, until they got a local distribution center, now it is one to two day turn around time. The closet blockbuster is 30 minutes away and we enjoy the convience of drop and go, however the two coupons a month wouldnt do anything for me, since the late fee are still insane.



Have you read what you sign up to do if you are late with a movie? yes there are still late fees, in fact you can keep it one week, and then beyond that, they will charge you the price of the movie. Read the fine print, I did.



For series, you can rent an entire series and they can auto set it up to send them to you in order. For me it has always been, one DVD = one movie. So for the Sopranos and what not, for disc one, its one movie out, disc two, another out, disc three, another out.



I usually do much more then 3 out a month, its more like 3 every four days, so it is a great value, and I get to see movies I missed or didnt want to see in the overpriced theather.



As for gamefly, they sucked for me, they are in californa, and the turn around time to the east coast was sometimes 10 days out, 10 days back, I personally believe they held the games, so much so I tracked one I sent back, it got to Californa in 3 days, yet Gamefly didnt register it returned for another 6 days.



I then found an east coast service called Gamechoice, which is out of New York, which has rocked so far, they dont have as many platforms as Gamefly, but they are building on it, to include, DS, XBOX360, PS3 etc.



Netflix has been awesome, Gamechoice has been awesome.

I haven't used Gamefly in a while, but when I did, their turnaround for me (I live in CT) was about 5 days. Weird that it took so long for you.



I stopped using them when I starting sinking more time into MMOs again and noticed the console games were just sorta sitting around. Seemed silly to pay for it.

I went with NetFlix, they treat seasons as the individual discs, but some special edition movies that come with 2 are treated as one. Kind of weird but oh well.

You have 30 days from that point to return that game/movie for a full refund minus $1.20 processing fee

if you wait til after that then you are screwed

i have blockbuster as well. i like the 2 free movie coupons so i can watch something with my gf every once in awhile and have it be free. i also like how if you returned the dvd's but its been more then 2 days since it was supposed to reach you and hasnt cleared you can manually clear it and they will send the next dvd's even though they are still in the mail back to them.



there are times when i get a dvd in 2 days from the time its shipped and once i waited a week but it was an obscure title and i think it had to come from across the country. even then though they had it saying it would be shipped to me in just 3 days so at the 5th day i was able to say "it never reached me" and have them ship the next one in my queue so i ended up with 4 movies out that time. being the nice guy i am i went ahead and sent it back once i was done with it though instead of keeping it as a free movie. hmmm maybe i should have takin it back to a store as a trade in and gotten money from em. oh well hindsight is 20-20 =p

Basicly they treat each dvd as ONE dvd. For example, you rent Roswell season 1, which has 6 dvds, they send you the first 3 dvds, then the next 3 after they receive the previous ones back.

Hope it makes sense...

The number of dvds your receive depends on your plan.

Not to me, when you say no late fees, mean no late fees, dont hide shit in fine print. If you make a claim, be able to stand behind it. It was during a time I wasn't paying attention to Netflix and my queue. So I just had a few and didn't watch any of them.



Not once was I reminded about it through Netflix. I returned them with no questions asked.



The way Netflix makes up for it is when you cancel your account. Unless you return any outstanding movies, they'll nail you.

This has been probably answered a dozen times by now but...



Netflix works real well. They have regional distribution centers through out the country. Basically you can have a 3-5 day turn around on sending off movies and get new ones back. Season series you will get one dvd at a time (one disk at a time). Even though i just recently canceled my service (not enough time for movies, not a problem with their service), I would recommend them to anyone to lazy to go to the video store lol. Really it's a quality company and not outrageously priced.

Well I had one annoying moment, sent all 3 dvd's back in on Friday, which was a mistake because they don't operate on the weekend, so they didn't get them back until Monday. They sent out 2 dvd's and I got them on tuesday, except the 3rd one was shipped from the mainland on tuesday and I won't get it until friday. I didn't get any option to cancel it and opt for something else.

I have done both Netflix and blockbuster.



I think both are same price here are the pros and cons.



Netflix:

Pro: Verry fast delivery new movie within 3 day's after you send old one back. but i life in minneapolis and they ahve a warehouse there. check and see if they have a warehouse near your place or else you might get movies 1 day latter.



CON: must wait for movies.



Blockbuster online:



Pro: you get 2 instore video/videogame rentals a month.



Con:about 1 day slower than netflix

Two free in-store rentals in addition to what comes in the mail.

Anyone ever use web services like getflics.net where you can download the movies, tv shows and the likes? There are coupla other websites that allow you to download movies and then can burn them to dvd's if you want. With all the craps with RIAA going on these days, I'm not too keen on buying one of these services. A lot of these websites claim to be 100% legal, but are they really legal? Anyone uses or used these services? Are they worth it ?
