reports are coming in that 3 more bombs in the subway stations and one more bus exploded about 35 or so minutes ago in london...
it was exactly 2 weeks ago that the last attack happened...

I am in central London now.
Everything is fine.
4 incidents.
1 injury, and that was the "suicide bomber"
Will keep you updated.

Looks like the whole thing is a bit of a "wet squib"
Four attempts at bombings, one has gone off, and failed to kill anyone at all, including the "suicide bomber".
Good news is hard to come by (Police contacts for City companies have suggested people remain in their buildings for the time being) but it appears to be a "splinter group" almost cashing in on the previous very serious bombings.
Disruption is bad, and the majority of the tube network has closed as a precaution.
I have been to two big offices, and people are "laughing it off" which I think is a healthy approach.
More news to follow - If anything actually ahppens, but let us all hope not.

Sounds like copycats to me...

They were far more ineffective then even a normal AQ attack, and they used the exact same tactics (3 trains 1 bus), which is very out of character for AQ whose MO is to change their tactics every time. If this was AQ people they weren't doing it as part of a larger plan (and the use of the word "plan" I'm using rather loosely in this case).

They may be copycats, but if they are they didn't do their homework

Looks like its all a little anti-climatic.
Regardless of the news, people are taking it in their stride over here.

It's being said that the detonators went off but the actual explosives themsleves did not detonate (deteriorated perhaps?).
The police seemingly are saying that it was similar amounts of a similar type of explosive to 7th July.
So if that is the case London seriously dodged a bullet today, as it shuold have been as bad as the 7th again.

Apparently, they were very similar bombs, but these ones were mixed with too much acetone. Acetone is what created the melting plastic / rubber smell.
I have to guess that there were not the brightest terrorists. Quite possibly the C or D team.
One stood in a group of people and tried to detonate but only succeeded in splitting open the backpack. The loud pop was immediately followed by a rather pronounced "SHIT!" from the terrorist who expected to be dead at this point.
Another one of the wouldbe bombers was not quite as upset when his didn't kill him. He pulled out his pistol and shot the bomb several times trying to get it to detonate.
A 3rd suspect managed to injure himself and only himself.
The bus suspect apparently did the most damage. The bus driver was unaware what had happened until a woman came down from upstairs and said there had been an explosion. the explosion managed to break some windows.
So now, here you are, a would be martyr. You expected at this point to e heaven with 21 virgins. Instead, you have your face on tape and every intelligence agency in the world looking for you.
Real men of genius.

They have that guy in Egypt who was a chemistry PHd and lived with one of the previous bombers and left the UK the day before the bombing.
It makes you wonder.

Well, if this group is associated to the original group, this group may have had to build the bombs without a chemist.
At this point though, all of this information is subject to change. It is very hard to tell what is official nformation and what is speculation on what a reporter heard some guy say he heard from someone else.

Mmm, the "recruitments" are more important than expected. Unfortunately...
Happily, there is no death toll. Maybe due to that chemist arrested in Egypt.

The dust has settled and its another day, things seem to be back to normal.
But actually I am slightly ashamed to say that the trains and stations are very quite today, looks like either people have been scared off or used it as an excuse to have a long weekend.
Either way it almost means the "bombs" achived their objectives. Which is sad considering the day after 7/7 everyone made an effort to continue with "business as usual".
Someone commented about on terrorist having a gun, doe anyone have a reliable source for this?

Yes. BBC Website. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4703853.stm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4703853.stm)

Quote:

1940: The RMT union's security meeting is told the Oval suspect used handgun to try and detonate backpack, BBC London transport correspondent Andrew Winstanley says.

I read an article yesterday as it went on the wire. Details were sketchy, but it basically said one of the bombers attempted to detonate his bomb, after it failed to detonate properly, by using a handgun on it.
