Can anyone help with my gui please?

The text on the new gui is extremely hard to read, there are vertical lines behind all the text. I haven't used the new gui because of this, i thought it was a problem that more people were experiencing and that it would be fixed with a patch, but it hasn't gotten any better. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks =)

Lines behind the text, sounds like you have a video card problem, or somehow corrupted the files that code the new "background" image of the windows....you might want to either check your drivers or delete a few choice files from your EQ folder..though I wouldn't know which.

Check your video card drivers. Reinstall DirectX. Reinstall fonts in Windows (I believe most of the game uses Ariel font by default). Lastly, reinstall EverQuest.



You can also see if the lines appear in all resolutions or just some of them. If its just some of them, you might be having a problem with the monitor or video card itself. If its all of them, you could still be having a problem with the hardware, but check all the stuff listed above first.

Thanks for your posts guys, I got a new video card and now i can not even load the new gui, I am getting the message that EQGFX_DX8.DLL has caused the game to crash. I deleted the file a few times and let the patch server download it for me, but it still doesnt help. Anyone know what to do?



My new video card is a Vodoo 3 if that helps.

good god a voodoo 3? voodoo 3 sucks wind for eq now adays, hope you didn't spend more than 20 bucks for it. 3dguru.com and find the drivers there. resintall dx8.1 then the drivers then see what happens...



the voodoo3 is NOT dx8 complient.



get a REAL video card the voodoo3 is ancient by terms of what computer equipment is like. at the MIN i would get a TnT2 if spending under 50bucks

geoforce 2 if under 100

geoforce4 4200 if under 160.

Thanks for the info, im going to try it and see if it helps. Hehe i didnt know it was that bad, but i got it for free and it was an upgrade to the one i had so its ok for now i guess.
