Nothing like turning in the wrong items to an NPC in EQ and being forced to redo EVERYTHING all over again!

Nothing like turning the right items to the right NPC, having him eat them, and having to redo the quest again <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif ALT=":p">

This is not some great piece of game play, it was just one of those things that I ran across and thought...cool that worked well.
I was doing the last Broken Alliance quest in The Badlands where you get 3 items from the pillars then activate two named elite dragons kill them...you know the drill.
ANYWAY...I was not paying attention and activated the last step while the corpses of from another group were still up...so two non-named dragons appeared. Nice enough the main item did not poof when I screwed upped and I was easily able to get the other 3 items and retrigger.
I think it is pretty great the way they have the quest system that rarely (I've never had it happened to me, but I'm sure it has happened to someone) causes you to be totally screwed out of a quest. Failing the quest typically means that you just abandon the quest and restart. If it is a quest in a series you do not have to restart the series, just the last quest.

some demented freaks would call that "the good ole days".

Heh I've seen fools demand that WoW's quest system be more like EQ.
Sure is fun walking up to random NPCs and spamming "What celestial fist?" "What eejag?" "What kairen?"

The best part was when you didn't know the keyword you needed, and were forced to play 'Guess the Parser.' It reminded me of the old text adventures from the 80's.
