View Full Version : Safe Fall, Changed?
Typically when I'am sitting at one of the Spire to Luclin portals, I will run up the side of the spire and jump off to amuse myself, "childish I know <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> ".
Before the patch I would take 5, 15, maybe 20 damage per fall. Noticed after the patch, now taking over 100+ per fall.
Anyone else noticed this?

Were you by chance over encumbered? Or more encumbered than normal? Also did you do this more than one time? Some times with a maxed safefall if I hit the jump just right I can still take a bit more damage. ALSO if you were experiencing any lag it can happen. Damage from a fall is measured from the "Time you entered free-fall" to the "time you exited free-fall" so even a minor lag bubble can cause a bit more damage.

I have noticed I take more damage when falling from places I normally used to take little to none. All started when the new UI was introduced. I thought it was mentioned to the development team at the last fanfaire and that they said it wasnt a change that was intended and would look at it.
I just quit jumping off of things in order to not get mad about it.

The new UI just made you lag a bit more, thats all, just use the old one if it really affects you. And if your allready using the old one then, i dunno

I never fell for 10k in Velk's until I started noticing this... I think it is bugged, or nerfed..

Safe fall has definatly been changed in some way. I know I used to be able to jump off the roof in velks and take 50dmg, now i take 300. Also in the WW scars i take a lot of damage from falling when i used to take 20ish or none depending on where i jumped in.
And I know its not because I weigh more. Back when I actually hunted in velks regularily and took 50 dmg from falling I used my hefty Tstaff, and now use .1 wt handwraps.

I haven't noticed a difference, and I jump (well, jumped - dinged 61 and left velks) CONSTANTLY off the higher levels of Velks. It's all about lag and the RNG. I've taken zero jumping from Ledge, and I've taken 500. Hasn't changed.

I took 37 dmg from what should have been a zero damage fall in Plane of Tranquility the other day. Was really quite a shock. I wasn't overweight at all and the fall was pretty straightforward with no bumps or "catches" along the way down.

I havent done any jumping lately, but i do know that lagg plays an important part.
Once i jumped of of a ledge no taller than my character, hit a lagg bubble on the way down and hot hit for like 680 points of damage. granted i was like lvl 20 at the time so the fall killed me instantly.
I'll have to do some Kurns tower jumps to be able to tell if there is a difference.

Fall damage is intimately related to lag -- both server-side and client-side. Since you can't control or adjust for lag (especially server-side lag), testing on Safe Fall is always going to be crude at best.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if they nerfed it in order to force us to get the Safe Fall AA.

Just a heads up
A bugged fall is 20k damage as of PoP patches, they changed it because its possible to have 10 k hp and they dont want you reporting a 10k damage fall anymore. This was explained to me after i feel through the floor of the elevator in PoK when it was near the top. luckly i got a CS rez.
