For all the reasons you listed.
Every group needs a slower, healer and buffer.
They can solo dragons and lvl 60 mobs all over the place. They duo like Gods.
Unlimited mana
What more do you need?

I also have a 53 shaman they are lots of fun. Recently I rerolled my SK as a Iksar and lvl'd him to 14 in. I'd say play a SK or a Necro because you will still have the ability to feign death and go afk when you must and you don't want to log off the game.

Sound suggestions above, I'd like to add however simply for your consideration a Beastlord.
They solo well, are desirable in groups, and a lot of your gear may well transfer well to a Beastlord.

Having second thoughts now... Here's my three choices give me some feed back plz
1. Sell all of my equipment and twink out my 28 ranger.
2. Keep my monk and level him...
3. Create a Shammy, Druid or Cleric...
Well their are my 3 choices, and I jsut don't know what to do

Make a wizard.
They're quite tough and unrewarding to play for the first 34 levels... but once they get their snare, group ports, & a good AE, they become solo gods (quad kiting) and quite desirable in a group since people have lately been warming up to wizzies once their mains (seriously - what's the last time you were in a group of only non-twinks?) see what they can do.
Plus the ability to go anywhere, anytime is quite liberating. It's kind of like with the cell phone - you're ok without one until you get one, and then you wonder how you've ever done without.

Do all three! Well, not the sell your gear part, but no reason you can't twink an alt or two and switch em out when you get bored with one for awhile. I have characters ranging from level 11 to level 53 of all different classes. There's usually one to fit my mood and I love each and every one of them (even the ranger).

Nooo... don't make another character! Quit EQ entirely. I swear, I have NOT been missing it one bit. Warcraft 3 has reignited my "Craft" passion that bit me back in the days of original Warcraft.
"If you don't miss it, how come you're here?"
Yea, well, I still like the people on this board, and Monkly-business is a community. I like to stay in touch with this community. That, and I have my WC3 CD out at another house. >_<
Seriously though, VI won't give a flying fuck if you create a new character. Hell, they'll like it, since you're more likely to stay longer with a new character. I suppose I'm partially rebelling against them, but... I dunno, EQ isn't appealing anymore. When that happens, there is no point in spending $13 a month.
Contrary to what you'll hear on this board, there IS a sun. Try to avoid it like the plague though, my skin turns this weird brown color from it. I don't know what it is, but I don't like it one bit. *Slabs on his 70 SPF*

How can they so fundamentally change my character?
They didn't let me vote on it or ask me if I would want something else taken away (like maybe have stonestance re-cycle slower or change mend somewhat). They just reduced my ability to tank without giving me something else in return. It is so completely unfair that I put two years into a character and they can just change it without any regard to my opinion.
I choose a monk to pull, do damage and tank for a small group of friends (druid and chanter). Now, that ability is greatly reduced.
I canceled my account because it is a huge change to what I expected from a monk. It is such a huge change that I would have chosen another class given the current abilities of the monk class. That is a good reason to leave EQ.
-Fysts (pretty average gear on a 57 monk)
PS And they did it after I camped Raster for 35 RL HOURS. Talk about adding INSULT TO INJURY.

Im not too sure about Shaman really...
Looks to me, if you play one your setting yourself up for more torture when they come around to nerfing them, which is a 50/50 shot right now IMO...
Id go Beastlord (20/80 shot of nerfage) for reasons I said in other thread + carnagh thoughts.
But want more pure caster, definately Necro. I think they are nerfed out so you wont have to stress WYSIWYG with Necro I feel.

What ever you do dont trash your Monk. If you are into Twinking you can use your Monk to farm cash for what ever class < es > you deside to make. Never trash a char that is that high if all you are doing is rerolling. They can be very valuable in the farming department =) .
As for reroll, if you like Evil I say Necro < Pets, root, dot, DD, Gate, Mana regen, snare dots, the ability to lower resists, cure some illnesses, see in the dark as any race given the spell solo gods and very well in groups >, or mage if you like the good side of things < 4 differant pets to chose for the hunt you want, no root but have a pet to take care of that, ability to lower resists, gate, mana regen at higher levs < Mod rods >, DD, AoE/AE, never have to go to shop for food drink or most anything, focus items that realy help with DMG/Mana conservation/ Agro reduction/ Range, verey good solo and a joy in a group >
Now I mentioned only these 2 because these are the 2 that most stick out when you mention solo and group, now I dont know much about the BST but have heard they are good in both as well.

If you want a solo class + fun: do a beastlord.
Their pet heals, pet damage and now 4:1 damage spells seem to kick ass.
A friend of mine plays half the time I do with his beastlord and is the exact same level.

I would be careful about BST, like someone said, they are a nerf waiting to happen.
