View Full Version : The REAL problem with the nerf.

Let me start by saying I've played EQ since beta. I've taken my breaks here and there, but for the most part I have been "hard-core" since inception.

You can throw out all the log parsing, the damage mitigation tables, the comparisons to warriors, and the shoulda coulda stuff. You say that a leather class shouldn't tank as well as a plate class? Throw that idea out too. (we were good tanks with the right gear, but we've never tanked as good as a warrior due to the HP difference). Take all your comparison crap and throw it out the window. HERE is the real issue, and I want you to all listen very carefully:

The monk's definition has been changed YEARS after it was defined!!!

I started, leveled and played my monk because of his capabilities. I put ALOT of time into this monk. I've paid hundreds of RL dollars in subscription fees for this monk. I've wasted countless hours camping and leveling this monk. NOW, after all this time, through all the years, somebody is going to come and change what my monk can do? Make him less than what he was?(regardless of the actual amount). I wish I could express how pissed off I am... you cannot, and shouldnot "adjust" the basics of a class years after the fact. That is the real issue.

By the way, I also have a 56 wizard and 56 cleric that got "nerfed". I can understand those two nerfs, although I'm not thrilled about them either. But they are not as "class defining" as this monk nerf. I can accept them. I cannot, and will not accept this monk nerf.

Goodbye EQ

I can not and will not except being ignored when we have reached out to and practically begged SOE for Official Comment. If I indeed do quit this will be my primary reason SOE's Customer Service is horrible. I'm also considering trading in my PS2 and all my games for a xbox. I would go as far as to say I'm willing to remove all Sony products from my life. Sony as a whole can go screw themselves. We have been more then reasonable with them and are just ignored.

You so completely stated why I canceled my account. The character that I played (57 human monk) is changed in a big way after 2 years of playing.

How can they so fundamentally change my character?

They didn't let me vote on it or ask me if I would want something else taken away (like maybe have stonestance re-cycle slower or change mend somewhat). They just reduced my ability to tank without giving me something else in return. It is so completely unfair that I put two years into a character and they can just change it without any regard to my opinion.

I choose a monk to pull, do damage and tank for a small group of friends (druid and chanter). Now, that ability is greatly reduced.

I canceled my account because it is a huge change to what I expected from a monk. It is such a huge change that I would have chosen another class given the current abilities of the monk class. That is a good reason to leave EQ.

-Fysts (pretty average gear on a 57 monk)

PS And they did it after I camped Raster for 35 RL HOURS. Talk about adding INSULT TO INJURY.
