Let me start by saying I've played EQ since beta. I've taken my breaks here and there, but for the most part I have been "hard-core" since inception.
You can throw out all the log parsing, the damage mitigation tables, the comparisons to warriors, and the shoulda coulda stuff. You say that a leather class shouldn't tank as well as a plate class? Throw that idea out too. (we were good tanks with the right gear, but we've never tanked as good as a warrior due to the HP difference). Take all your comparison crap and throw it out the window. HERE is the real issue, and I want you to all listen very carefully:
The monk's definition has been changed YEARS after it was defined!!!
I started, leveled and played my monk because of his capabilities. I put ALOT of time into this monk. I've paid hundreds of RL dollars in subscription fees for this monk. I've wasted countless hours camping and leveling this monk. NOW, after all this time, through all the years, somebody is going to come and change what my monk can do? Make him less than what he was?(regardless of the actual amount). I wish I could express how pissed off I am... you cannot, and shouldnot "adjust" the basics of a class years after the fact. That is the real issue.
By the way, I also have a 56 wizard and 56 cleric that got "nerfed". I can understand those two nerfs, although I'm not thrilled about them either. But they are not as "class defining" as this monk nerf. I can accept them. I cannot, and will not accept this monk nerf.
Goodbye EQ
