View Full Version : What is wrong with asking for clarification?

10-23-2002, 01:32 PM
QUOTE from Laughing Owl's post (under "IF this is a monk board then why...?)

"What was the desired result of the changes to the monks, and do you feel the current changes have achieved the desired results?

From most the of the boards (and the wording of the message) most of us belive the percieved problem was at the very highest levels, monk were perhaps approaching a 'tanks' tank ability and were edging in on this. Thus implying that the problem was not the MONK, but the monk with (unviersally availble) very good equipment.

The problem is from player perspectives, the monks with the very high end all/all equipment are reporting little change post 'balancing' and the monks with 'monk' equipment and or low-end all/all equipment are getting hammered. Seem the exact opposite of the desired goals were acheived.

Can you please address this.

Regards

The monk community"

I find nothing wrong with posting this as a sticky and asking for the response from the rep who reads these boards. It is polite, to the point, and asks the questions we are all wanting to know the answers to. I could understand if the board was suddenly flooded with topics directed to Absor with caps in the title if those topics were locked or deleted. Overkill is one thing. Asking a question rationally and calmly is another.

Zadkiel, no one is responding to us now except to say the boards are "being read". I for one feel that I am a player who is asking for the courtesy of a response yet I am not being heard, due to the unfortunate choice of the class I chose as my main character. Who else are we to ask for answers from if not the Verant rep who reads these boards?

I agree 110% ..If they do read these boards why try to sift through the flames..the rants and complaints?

Personally after seeing people flame me and the people I represent I would grow a bit tired....why not sticky a nice clear polite question ..?

I mean how else will it get answered? and again I seriously doubt asking them for a reply is going to make them stop posting ...or post even less if that's even possible...I think it would have the opposite effect .

He could go right to the heart of what we all want to know in one post rather than wade thru everything else.

I learned along time ago you don't get if you don't ask ..plain and simple. IF they are offended at our asking in a polite organized manner ...then maybe most of what's been said about them is true..and if it is then we've lost nothing by offending them.because we had nothing to begin with.

Can't figure out the logic in closing threads on this either, I would ask the mods why they are doing it...but I'm pretty sure we are not supposed to ask questions anymore.

At least that what it seems like to me.

I gave my reason why in the thread I locked, but it would appear I need to clarify it.

Absor (Alan Vancouvering) must get hundreds if not thousands of questions asked of him every day, via email, via the eq boards, and I am sure many others too (phone calls, interviews, in-game questions etc etc).

If I allow these boards to deteriorate into yet another place where people are demanding answers from him, then I can guarantee that he would stop coming here completely. Right now he feels free enough to make an occasional post, sometimes for fun, sometimes serious, and I want that to continue.

Ive seen it before on other boards, both for EQ and for other games... someone official posts, suddenly the players start asking questions directed at them, and they are never seen again.

I would rather have occasional input from Absor than none at all, and as such will not allow any threads directed at him. If you want to ask him a question, then use one of the 'official' methods for doing so (email, the eq boards etc) and let this remain a place he comes to because he wants to.

Zadkiel.

Let me explain where I'm at today. I have not purchased PoP I am waiting till I know exactly where i stand as a class. I have repeatedly asked for a clear statement on if they consider this change a done deal or if they will continue to tine it furture. While I seriously do not like this change what I am truly fed up with is the lack of a official statement. If it's a done deal just say so. Then I have a choice deal with the change or quit. Right now the only reason I'm here still is I'm trying to hold out for a official statement. If I truly do quit it will be less about the nerf and more about the poor customer service.

Zad,

I respect you and your wishes.

Dont you feel slighted by VI and Absor though?

Unless he has emailed you directly he has snobbed you and the community you created and maintain.

Secondly, most of us have tried all the official methods to get a response and they still do nothing. I think we are looking to try drastic measures because we deserve some type of answers. If this board wont help..ok but..dam.

Sure he gets lots of questions and emails every day. My guess would be that a majority of them these past days have been from monks asking VI to state if the change is what they intended. Just look at this forum! Well over 7000 posts in 2 weeks!

I can accept the changes. I can play another class. After all their slogan is "You're In Our World Now!"

What I can't stand is their attitude to me as a customer. I have emailed, I have sent feedbac. I get totelly ignored.

How har would it be to post a statement on Developer's Corner to let us know if this change was all they intended and why?
