View Full Version : Time to accept the change?
Hi everyone.
I'm noticing more and more that this has become the popular forum on MB. I am wondering how much longer we're going to try to fight this change. It doesnt appear that VI is going to go back on this one.
So, I ask you. When do we decide that we're going to accept our fate and move on?
I know many people feel that this is not a fate that they can accept, but as long as the game can still be considered fun, I think it is something we can live with.
Do I want things back they way they were? Sure.
Do I think we're going to get that? Not really.
I'm moving on. EQ still offers a ton of things for us to do, especially with the recent release of Planes of Power. Maybe we should spend more time out there to see what is new and exciting instead of sitting back here and feeling sorry for ourselves.
I'm sure this isn't going to go over particularly well with some people, but please understand that I do not want to start a flame war, and that I only am stating how I feel about things.
Good luck to you fellow monks, one and all.

Even if it doesnt seem likely that what we say will effect that outcome of all this doesnt mean we dont say it. If the son of a judge ran over your cat and you ended up in his court trying to sue josh for flattening poor fluffy would you give up?

Id be able to accept the change if i knew what the change was. I can easily see the results of the change, as i'm being mauled by various green goblins, but what and by how much did they change it? The day of the change, it was put out to see the developers update for more details.....didnt take them long to post that they pally nerf was undone and things have been posted since...still no monk stuff *shrug* had to rant somewhere
Had the pallies not thown a fit, they would have been nerfed. We give up, we get no answers and they'll do it again w/o a second thought

ACCEPT THE CHANGE?!!!
While I am moving on, I see no reason toaccept the change whatsoever. VI noticed that SOME monks were excelling way beyond what they originally intended, so they NERFed us hard! I do not believe VI fully tested out their change before hitting us with it. I believe that this might have been the result of some pissing contest within their office. I believe that there are alot of possibilities why they did it, that doesnt mean that they are true, but it seems weird that the nerf to Pallies was recinded before they actually even got touched, while we were blasted almost to the point of uselessness. Our pulling capabilities have been severly reduced because of the nerf, after all, who wants a puller that will drain mana before the mob is actually engaged? With SK's getting FD and more HP and spell abilities, what is keeping monks as a viable class?
Or could it possibly be that the "endgame" monks are going to get some items that are extremely powerful and will overbalance even more a highend powerhouse like the monks? Could tat be the reason we were Nerfed? Never mind that we have it harder going up the XP ladder than most classes (whatother class has the HP of casters but sits on the front line with "leather class" armor? Face it There is alot of strange thinking in the developement department. we cant figure them out, because there is nothing to figure out! They made a very IDIOTIC decision to nerf us in that way, without thinking about how it will effect the entire game.
"Going out of business" should be posted on every monk guild wall because who will want to play a monk now? Other than alts that will be uber from the start (Lvl 1 with Full acrylia/panther gear), and I know we have all seen them. Used to be that twinking was looked down upon...now it seems more of a necessity. I dont have the money to keep up with all the armor upgrades I have to do...I'm already up to my ears in hock to my guild just so I can take on LT blues now. Who wants to invest the time in a class that will be marginally helpfull in raiding parties now?
Also where do all these Other classes get off comming here saying that the nerf wasnt that bad, or worse people who have a lvl 20-30 alt "monk" who hardly ever play their monk saying "I havnt noticed a difference"! Those who have not noticed a difference, really take a look at what mobs your're hitting. Most things that I've owned since 42 are handing me my azz at 43! Who else is saying they havn't noticed any changes? Uber monks with top end gear! Excuse me Mr twink/tricked out monk, when was the last time you tried to tkae on something that was mildly difficult but definitly do-able solo? after the patch? without your tricked out gear? like a NORMAL monk. You are not monks in my eyes, your traitors! "Brother" was your title at one time, but I guessed you forgot that when you changed that title, because a brother would not let someone stab a "brother" in the back, and go on as if business is usual. I understand that these comments dont apply to everyone, but to those that they do apply to (and you know who you are), do me a favor and either keep quiet about your opinions, or throw some of that "uber" support to your brothers and help us try and get Verant to reverse their decision.
AND the Last time I checked, I could not tell a low DARK blue from a HIGH dark blue. Almost everything I con is Dark blue to me. If anyone has a program that will give me different shades of dark blue so I can REALLY tell if I'm about to be eaten alive please post a link to it.
I've gone off topic enough sorry but I'm really getting PO'd at this lay down and die attitude, and all the other BS that has also sprung up lately. The topper has been reading a couple posts by Pallidins on our boards about how good it will be now that we are nerfed. I wonder if they would be saying that if they suddenly had their hitpoints decreased and then they had to wear what we wear.
Good Luck to all of my "Brothers". To hell with all of you wanna be Monks/pacifists/and supporters of VI.

Brokenangel,
It is hardly a "lay down and die" attitude as you say.
I'm just tired of seeing our cries fall upon deaf or uncaring ears.
I am ready to move on, experience new things and be the monk that I am "supposed" to be. Vision or not, we have our role, we may as well make the best of it.
I started this topic so that other monks might see the reason behind getting on with thier careers as monks and try to enjoy what we still have.

Yes when you face opposition and have been wronged it's always good to give up and to quit. Please apply this in other area's of your life also. When your turned down for the promotion just give up don't sign the next one etc. Winners don't quit and Quiters don't win.

Xaos,
I really did not aim this letter at you, more like in the general direction. You have a valid point, but I cannot let this issue lie without at least a FULL explanation from VI or the powers that be. I agree people have to deal with this issue because, as I've come to realize, we are not just going to quit playing our monks. I for one have made may a threat about switching to my enchanter alt (Lvl 26) because My monk is no fun anymore. Truth is that I will continue to play him because I want to stick it in verants face that they cannot beat me. However, this lack of any responce to all of our rants/raves/querries/form letters/etc. is really a load of horse sh$*. If they had any care at all about why we are angry they should at least make a formal statment to all the boards/main EQ sites. I think the reason we have heard nothing is because they cannot come up with a good reason why they almost destroyed a whole class in one hit. Judging from what I've seen on these boards we have way too many REAL experts on monks with hard evidence to completly destroy any possible reason they had for the NERF.
I respect your point of view, and when I said in your general direction, I meant the others that have the attitude of "ADAPT" or "get over it already". Moving on with your character is a great idea, giving up without even a responce from VI is well "stupid". When VI decides to state clearly what their reasoning was and what they intended to happen was then I might reduce my posts to "grumbling instead of outright anger. My monk has had to scrape a meager living thru his levels...this has made him/me a fighter. I WILL continue to fight, until there IS no reason to do so anymore. That will be just after I and our Brothers get an explanation that makes sense.

I believe it is a matter of perspective, Brother Xaos. From your perspective, it may seem like time to accept the change. From my perspective (returning from some time off - non-epic, 200 less AC than you, 700 less HP, and possibly half the DPS) I'm not quite ready yet. The innate capabilities of a monk were always the most interesting to me. Nerfing them, and placing a heavy emphasis on equipment that I don't have doesn't sit well with me. Please understand, I am not being critical. I merely point out - this nerf has differing affects on different people, and some may not be ready to accept it yet.

Live with yes, I will adapt....
Like the silence no responsive treatement we recieve when every other recent change has gotten a prompt and detailed response, this is what really bothers me.

I am not accepting the change until the damn retards at VI explain the freaking reasons behind this nerf! And I wont take any of that cause at high level 5% of monks can crap... THEY SAID THEY CANT SEE THEMSELVES USING THAT AS AN EXCUSE.
But they did it anyway!
I want those lowlife, retarded, stupid, fat morons to explain!
