Yes I got on with the default skin, so I guess the new skin writers have to do an up date.

Ok, I got on with my custom skin. It's a hybrid of many different custom skins so I don't know if this will work for everyone. Also, this is exactly what I did; I don't think every step is required.



1. Make a copy of your custom skin folder.

2. Copy all the files from the default folder to your original custom skin folder and replace dups.

3. Copy all the files from your copied custom skin folder to your original custom skin file and replace dups.

4. Copy the following files from the default folder to the custom skin folder.



EQUI.xml

EQUI_Animations.xml

EQUI_BazaarSearchWnd.xml

EQUI_BazaarWnd.xml

EQUI_CompassWnd.xml

EQUI_OptionsWindow.xml

window_pieces04.tga



I suspect steps 2 and 3 are unnecessary.

I can't believe they patched this in. They've known about this problem on Test. What you do is this:



Edit the file "UI_charname_##.ini" (## = your server number).



At the bottom of the file will be a [CompassWindow] area. Add the line "Show=0". Save, exit. Now run EQ and it should work.



I can't guarantee this will fix your problem but I've had to run like this for the last couple of days (including last night) on Test so I bet this is it. Good luck,

Hmmm that must be what happened to me. After patching, I load the startup window, it checks for downloads etc. and and the once I press Play the window dies, although the eqgame process is still sitting there doing nothing.



BTW, this is happening to me with no custom skins (so that's not the issue) and with an identical PC to the one my wife uses, which is working fine. The only differences off the top of my head are the fact that I use new models and she does not, and some of our display settings are different.



P.S. My UI_charname_##.ini files have no [compasswindow] section at all <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> ...I can add this tonight when I get home I guess, but it would be much nicer if the *patch just worked*.

I am having the same problem as you Gondil. I have tried setting newui=false, copying compass portion into UI_charname, setting newui=true and using the default. Still crashes after the patch screen



This is also happening on just the laptop the desktop is working fine.
