View Full Version : XGA+ ok for EQ?
Basically, I want to buy a laptop and have my eye on a nice one. It has good specs but the 15 inch screen is XGA+ not SXGA+ (i.e. 1024 x 768 and not 1400 x 1050.. (same aspect ratio)).
I dont mind using the lower resolution for my Laptop's desktop, since anything higher on a 15inch screen might possibly be eye-strain inducing IMO. I also dont mind EQ at the lower res too, since its the same res I run it at on my 19" CRT anyway.
My only concern is that if I do see a sweet deal on a 1400 x 1050 screen, should I buy it... or is the lower res actually better for EQ due to text size and such on a 15inch screen?
Any experiences or opinions would be welcome..
PS: the graphics card should be powerrful enough to handle both resolutions anyway (ATI 9000 or GF4-FX).

Text is resizable in game.
The biggest issue is to make sure that the laptop / video card have enough juice to run EQ at the display's native resolution, otherwise it ends up looking like absolute crap.

14 x 10 is ok, but why anyone would go over 1280x1024 is beyond me.
high res is ok, but think about what youre using:
character models/horse models?
you in new zones or old ones?
raid much?
bazaar?
the more of those you do, the lower res you want. 1024 is a good medium, especially with a ATI 9K or Gf4-fx (which FX by the way, therse a lot of em)

Just wanted to clear up an apparent misconception here.
The Geforce FX is *not* a GeForce 4 based card.
GeForce 4 = nv25 core.
GeForce FX = nv35 core.
They're entirely different lines. GeForce FX is, essientally, GeForce 5. gf4-fx is as nonsensical as saying gf3-4.
