View Full Version : So how do we stack up compared to light tanks?
We know we're tanking basically 10% worse with awesome gear, and 30% worse with ghetto gear. How are we now tanking compared to other light tanks?
I think that we need to compare our tanking ability to that of beastlords, rangers, and rogues of near equal ac value. Protectors of zek and juggs are both all lvl57 and good test mobs. PoZ hit really hard for exp mobs, and there are a lot of juggs.

All things being equal, we'll always tank better than BLs. We still retain some of the effectiveness of our monk AC bonus, as well as having much higher defense / dodge / block / riposte caps.
A ranger would still need to have significantly more AC (say 1200 vs. 1100) to tank better than a monk. When both are above the softcap, I'd say the advantage still goes to monk, also because of our higher dodge / parry / riposte caps.
I've only grouped with a 55+ rogue in good gear once or twice, I can't really comment on them.

I am sure we outtank them. I would just like to see for how much.

Would be extremely interesting. The only relevant tests are rogues and warriors though, rangers are hybrids. If, as I suspect, we tank at roughly rogue levels then I really don't see the point in the class other than the pull team.

We ARE a light tank

We tank as well as rogues and don't deal as much damage.
What's the point?

We made a 60 Rogue Tank in UP today.
We grouped for a while with no tank. Monk rogue Ench Cleric, all 60.
There was little difference on Slowed mobs, although I had 100 more AC (1180 buffed, and him: 1080). He did not tank long enough to have something to parse on <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif ALT=":p">
That's only feeling, but the rogue was a bit surprised to Tank so well.
I think they are just not used to it.
The percieved difference, so far: He took regular dmg, when I sometime Blocked/Dodged everything for a couple rounds.
Hmm... Not a very useful post... But I thought I'd tell about our Tanking Rogue...
