View Full Version : Display problems with WC3...Solved

hey all, i was installing WC3 and went to play, but got a black screen, with a pop up box telling me "Out of Range", and "PC Display Settings Correct?". i tried looking at the Blizzard tech support page, but couldnt find anything...

what do i adjust my display setting to? i have dirx9.0, win xp pro, geforce 4 ti video card...sorry for the newb question, but i cant figure out how to get this game to run.

EDIT: tech support helped me out...

start ~> run ~> regedit and changed my refresh rate...took all of 3 seconds to do...made me feel really silly <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

did you make sure you have 32 bit colors up?

not sure if that helps, but i doubt it can hurt

can you even get into the interface, or does it freeze after the flash screen when it checks the CD?

i will double click on the icon and the minature screen will load up with the logo and what not...then when the game begins to start, when it goes full screen, i get my display error. the game continues to play, i can hear the music and stuff, but my monitor goes from green light to orange light...and i cant see anything.

i looked all over blizzard tech support page, and sent them an email...but i guess ill have to wait till monday to actually get something resolved through them.

figured i would post here incase someone else came across this problem, or maybe we all could figure out a solution before monday <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Sounds like your monitor cannot synch to the base refresh rate the WC3 is trying to run at when it switches to it's full screen resolution. If it's possible to adjust the base game resolution to something lower (ie if you set it to 1024X768, try setting it to 800X600 and see what happens.

Don't have the game, so I don't know what type of configuration options it has during setup, or if it has a utility that allows you to change options before actually running the game.
