So, what's that you say, Verant, about not wanting the nerf to unduly affect the lower 95% of the user base?
Have I missed something? Has our nerf been revoked too?

After reading Rich's response I am glad for Paladins. However his justification for not going through with the nerf is an additional slap in the face of Monks - basically they didn't want to hurt the class due to the abilites of the top 5% of the class. OMG that just sucks major ass considering our ENTIRE nerf was aimed soley at the top 5% - AND it connected with 100% of the population. I can only hope it is because they saw what they did to Monks and are pulling their heads out slowly.
/cry

Firstly, big unreserved grats to the Paladins at avoiding the nerf.
Secondly Rich's response as to why the nerf did not go through is definate grounds for having the Monk nerf reversed. Anything less is two-faced on a grand scale.

I agree, and I believe we should state our opinion as such with more and more letters, /feedback, and whatnot until it's done.
I simply don't like when they play a game of drunken dizzybat with all the classes, making sure the one nerfed is the one hit with the nerfbat when it's swung.

What is total BS is the complete lack of comment HERE
by anyone from VI/Sony we are totally left in the dark. Yet you can see Official responses on the Mage, Wizard and Paladin boards from VI. We have totally been crapped on and they don't even deem us worthy of any Official comment.

Bah, VI/Sony is playing the part of Emperor in a bad gladiator movie, waiting for the cheering of the crowd to decide the fate of the fallen in the arena.
For the monks, the cat-calls were deafening.
For the paladins, the pleas were just as loud.

My personal fav.

Quote:
And now that we see it's not nerfed at all, well it just makes Verant look like they can be rolled if you whine enough, although I do need to give you guys credit in that you didn't go absolutely nuts with whining like monks did, they were comical.

The crowd has spoken.

Well I'm glad it didnt go through. I'm personally never happy to see another class get nerfed. To the people who say that the monks went crazy though, they have to realize that while the other nerfs changed an ability of the other classes, the monk nerf had the potential to drastically change the way we play (or not play) the game. So yeah, people were a little crazy for a while.
This going back on decisions, while avoiding unneccesary nerfs, is very bad business on their part. Shows no backbone. Like a spoiled child, people will now know that they can get anything changed so long as they scream loud enough.

They would have deserved it JUST for the comment some pallies made on this board.
Ya know, the: You deserve it! Good riddance and all.

First and foremost, grats to the pallies; a fair number of my friends are pallies, and ill heave a sigh of relief right beside them at seeing their nerf aborted.
On the other hand, fuck you VI...this is as much a slap in the face as ive seen, ever. Cancelling the pally nerf due to 'feedback' and it 'unintentionally' affecting 95% of the pallies, right after screwing over 99% (what, intentionally i suppose?) of the monk community is a damnable tease.
/rude VI, your mothers wear combat boots.

Yeah, gotta love the fact they admitted nerfing our defensive skills cause in high end 5% of cases monks could actually come close to plate classes in tanking and then retract a nerf to pallies because they believe a class shouldnt be nerfed based on 5% of lucky players...
If someone does NOT see the retardness emanating from VI then you are a moron.
Thank you.

It's quite simple really. Enough Paladins hit the cancel button while plenty of not too smart monks appear to have been happy to be nerfed.

I started a thread in the General area, didn't notice this one before that.

Ok so Pali nerf was necessary for balance? At least that is what Verant claimed.
Now, there is no Pali nerf so according to Verant there must be no balance.
Time to undo the Monk nerf and address the issue the right way by improving Warriors.
They talk out both sides of their mouth and we continue to take it.

Congrats to the palys ! Every nerf sucks, and as someone else allrdy mentioned, I dont wanna buy another expension and play another 12 months to get back to the power I allrdy had.
My Feedback to Verant:
Don't nerf the whole monk class for 2% of the most uber monks with unreal equipment (designed by YOU) that might be able to tank comparable to warriors in some cases. If you cant ignore it just up the warriors (no a bit of an update wouldnt make anything to easy) or nerf this equipment but dont let pay 100% of the monks for your mistakes.

This change was well-intentioned, but we realized we were focusing too much on the potential of the top 5% of Monks, and while the solution was reasonable for that sub-group, it wasn't appropriate to apply across the board.
-----
THIS is what i am waiting for now. Or at least a:
While having reduced their ability to tank we decided to increase their offensive powers...

So if they roll back the nerf can I start requesting my 4% per death since the patch?

The reasoning that was rumoured for the Nerf is that Slay Undead grew more powerful with PoP Abilities... (W/ Undead planes) NOT its Current form...
The wording that VI backing off the Nerf, first sounds great but if you look at it closely, its very possible they just nerfe it in the opposite direction, making it so it does not gain more power in the Planes of Power.

Quote:

Slay Undead will continue to work in exactly the same way, and deal the same damage it does on live servers currently, and remain at that balance through level 65. Damage caused by Slay Undead won't increase post-60, though Paladin melee damage in general will continue to rise as you level up. There will be no defense penalty imposed while using this skill.

While there is no direct analogy to this regarding Monks, as one is an AA skill and the other is mechanics of the class, if indeed they are not making the power grow with PoP, it would be somewhat like VI stating
"We thought the Monk proposed nerf was focusing too much on the top 5%, and not the casual player, so instead we're make it so Monk damage does not go up in the planes of Power"

I know what you guys mean by a slap in the face by the way it was worded, but i think he meant more along the lines of people with that much AA to a point where it was a big deal -- such as the new hybrid AAs - more crits, better double attack with 2hers, etc...
However, Slay isn't going ot be like it was originally in PoP -- it won't happen more often or do more damage post 60, however paladin offense will still increase, hope that helps some.
