My laptop is loud!!!

i just got a Gateway laptop about 3 months ago, its the 400SD4 series... its got 3.5 ghz, 512mb, 60gb, 64 ati mobility m6 and dvd/cd burner.

my problem is, its so fucking loud!!!

i am in a library and pop it open to start doing a report and WVRRRRRRRRRRRR, everyone turns and looks... i shut it and walk out.... but when i am playing everquest it does it constantly! what can i do to shut up my laptop!!!??? if you have really good info, please e-mail me at mbradford05@msn.com

You need to change the setting on your CD player. I forgot how I found it, but mess around with it enough and you will find what setting you want your CD on. FAst, performance, quiet, etc...



That should quiet it down quite a bit.Also, it is probably only that loud when a CD is in it. take the CD out when you need it to be very quiet.

Well theres your problem. Your playing with a processor that hasn't been invented yet. Temporal instability tends to cause loud CD players

for those who actually have this problem:



check bios. somewhere there will be an option to set the laptop to performance or quiet. performance = fan go on

quiet = processor gets slowed down
