This change was well-intentioned, but we realized we were focusing too much on the potential of the top 5% of Paladins, and while the solution was reasonable for that sub-group, it wasn't appropriate to apply across the board.

I think I'd like to hear what some other people thought when they read this COMPLETE AND UTTER HYPOCRACY.

As I have said in about two other threads, I agree that this should be taken straight to Verant and applied to our nerf, because not only is it almost the exact same situation, our nerf didn't really _do anything_ to it's target aim.

They have to be either blind or against us.. one or the other.

All I could think about were the people who cried out for us to just wait until we saw a nerf in action before we raised concern over it's merits. They can take their "squeaky wheel" counter arguments and shove 'em, because if anything is more apparent than verant's hypocrisy, it's how wrong they were.

Quick, get Furor to complain about SU, that'll do it....

Typical fucking Verant, no fucking idea what is going on and knee-jerk reactions when certain people whinge.

If you go and look at the "So who quit" thread you will see exactly why Verant didn't renege on the monk nerf.

Lots and lots of players just quit their monk and went and played another class. Continued to pay Verant 13 dollars a month. That's not sending any sort of message to Verant.

So the nerfs remain.

I'm sure a TON of paladins would've quit had slay undead made them tank like, oh, say, a NERFED MONK while fighting undead mobs. /sarcasm

Keep in mind the only undead mobs paladins would ever be tanking are xp mobs, like Karnor's basement, where they currently and would still have been able to solo like mad banshees on crack.

The slay nerf affected far fewer people than the monk nerf. Why it was backed out on, I have no idea, but pallies will never know what kind of slay damage they could've been doing in PoP at 65 if they had let the nerf go in...tough for them.

Any monks that have truly quit EQ (and not just cancelled but continuing to play) because of the monk nerf were just looking for an excuse to quit. Yes, we were nerfed, but look at necros -- First they drop their pet damage by around 15-20% (most people haven't been playing long enough to remember this...but back in the olden days necro 49 pets quadded for 65, iirc). Then, they make it so necro pets can no longer take on the delay of the weapons they're wielding (storebought dagger - 20 delay, FS dagger - 21 delay, necro pet doing 50% more damage as a result: priceless).

Necros were *gutted* by VI. Utterly gutted. And yet, they are still solo gods, more or less. We, as a class, haven't lost nearly as much as they have. Paladins stood to lose FAR LESS than we had by the slay nerf. VI obviously doesn't consider nerfing slay to be as important as nerfing monk tanking.

The more important VI sees a nerf as, the more likely it is to stick. They wanted to make slay more powerful in PoP, so they were going to introduce a downside. Paladins got in an uproar, so they reneged, and now slay will never be any better than it is.

I'm still waiting to see if they are planning to give monks something else now that they have nerfed us...they sure didn't to necros (other than turning them into twitch-bishes in Kunark), and I hope the same doesn't happen to us.

My new necro's level 11, I love having a class that can solo. And if you've been reading the spell lists there's all sorts of cool stuff coming for casters. Not to mention focus items, flowing thought and the advent of KEI have made caster life much, much more pleasant.
