automatic internet connection

help! this morning i booted up my pc only to find out that it is automatically dialling connection to the Internet. I prefer to access the Internet using my shortcut command on my desk top. can someone please tell me how to disconnect automatic dial up as soon as i have booted up my pc. many <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"> thanks.

2. Are you closing all Net-based apps before you reboot?



3. Are you disconnecting from your ISP before you reboot?



4. Are there any apps running at startup that require an internet connection such as an IM, or a spyware like Webshots?

You need to go to internet connections and set it to not automatically dial up.

thanks to you both for a prompt response. no i am not sharing a net connection, yes i am closing all apps, yes i am disconnecting from isp. now believe it may be msn messenger that is causing the auto connect. i'll try that and then confess to hubby when he comes home from work. once again tx
