View Full Version : Nerf nerfed?
I didn't get a chance to play before the re-patch, but my room mate did. He said it was a lot better last night compared to the night before. I hit umbral last night and tanked as normal... parses look roughly the same DPS (not a huge sample however). I'm gonna nick my room mate's logs tonight when he gets in and parse them, as he was fighting the same mobs with the same setup both nights.
Anyone else notice anything similar?

Yesterday I was in duo with my paladin friend in The Grey.
We are both 60 with decent equipment but nothing "uber" ~ post HoT pre NToV.
I have CA3 and my friend just CF1 and CS1 (both have Run3 & Regen3).
We left Shissar Revenants because ~2/3rd are light blue (at 60) and move to Sun Revenants that are all dark blue.
I can tank most of them with stone stance + celestial / mend / celestial / celestial.
Sometimes I need a superior healing.
The "average max" damage of the biggest is 127 but sometimes a 161 happen (I don't have mitigation AA).
I found that strange ...
I don't feel nerfed at all <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past me, I will turn to see fear's path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.</p>
I only got a chance to play for a little while last night, but so far it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. I didn't get to play as much as I wanted to though. I should be able to be on more tonight, so that'll be the real test.

I had the exact opposite happen to me. I notice my monk (level 46 in DL) getting hurt a lot more after the repatch.

After wednesdays patch, almost every time a named in VT connected to me, it was for max damage. After thursday i was even able to do a little Rampage Tanking again during the aten fight. So, no parse here, but it feels like they did imporve it a bit again.

Level 59 Human Monk.
Was grouped in ME last night, doing Level 55-59 MOBs (Gorganna Scouts, "Grey Aliens', Hooded Xi-Viuas, and 4 armed Kabuki's, hey that's what we call them) near the ME/AR zoneline.
Group started out as me (still tanking), Cleric, Rogue, Bard, Shaman, Enchanter (all Level 58-60); and near the end the Shammie was replaced by a Mage with a pet for the Shaman, and a regular Level 55 Warrior for the Rogue.
Here were my stats:
1) My unbuffed AC is 1100. Unbuffed HP 2500 (no AA points)
2) With group buffs I was able to get to around 1181 AC, and HPs to 3700 or so.
3) With epic effect and a Bard twisting 'Cantanna of Replenishment', 'Verses of Victory' (these two were constant) and 'Nilipus March of the Wee', (this one was sporadic) my buffed AC fluctuated beteen 1193 and 1205 on most fights.
4) AGI was at 255 for most of the night (ie max avoidence AC add from that for whatever it's worth.)
We were there for about 3 hours, and I noticed the following:
At 1193 AC, I still saw a lot of hits for max damage, however when my AC went to 1205, max damage hits were very noticably reduced. I also fought enough MOBs and had situations where I can honestly say that getting to 1200 AC for me made a BIG and very noticable difference in mitigation, and while it wasn't back to what I consider 'pre-nerf' level, it was closer (I'd say I was taking only 10% to 15% more bamage than before, which is manageable imo; as opposed to 30% to 40% more damage while under 1200 on a consistent basis).
This may explain why most Iksar Monks with similar equipment (since you guys do have about 60 more base AC points then myself at 60, and AC gear equivailent to mine ins't hard to obtain), are saying they only see a 5% to 10% increase overall.
I wasn't able to break the 1200 AC barrier until last night, as I wanted to see how soloing had been affected by the nerf, and was at 1112 AC that first night for 2 hours, and then went to CT for an hour that first night, but that Group was a Warrior, myself, Cleric, Bard, Enchanter, and a Wizzie; so as I stated, that first night I never broke 1200 AC.
I still bekieve the original mitigation nerf was WAY to harsh, and could either use some adjusting (and no, I not saying back to original levels); or they could up our avoidance chance a bit. However, from what I experienced, unless I got really lucky on whatever rolls the system uses to calculate max/mon MOB hits on me, I honestly believe 1200 AC is a mitigation break point now (at least for level 59 Human monks); and if you want to live with the new patch, that's an AC number to shoot for. Again, Iksars will probably be able to get to this unbuffed a lot easier. For me, I'll need to get good Group buffs, or obtain some Uber NToV gear that VI wishes we never had access to in the first place (or so they say now.)
Just one Monk's observbation, take it for what it's worth to you.

Ok thats something I wondered. I THOUGHT I noticed a different result with over 1200 ac than under. Significant difference.

under 1100 ac, around 2100 hp self buffed (spirit of ox).
first day of nerf, i was getting owned pretty hard.
after the emergency patch, i seemed to be back to my old defense...
thought it was just me and the placebo thing, but i am hearing a lot of the same from other monks.

They prolly made extreme change 1st then tuned down it a lil.

From mobs I killed within mins of the servers coming up (from the first patch) I was taking a good deal more damage as most monks were. I played again the next day (after the re-patch) and I too believe I was at least somewhat more effective again, but still not 100% of pre-patch. Perhaps a slight readjustment was made due to feedback and such.

This sounds to me as everyone was painting the devil on the wall the first day and then realised next day it wasnt all that bad. The day after the nerf i soloed abit, tanked abit for a group and pulled abit. I had a fealing of soloing better vs low lvl velketor spiders while i had the fealing of taking abit more vs higher lvl mobs in my group kills and i didnt notice any difference at all in pulling. I didnt see any difference at all after the emergincy patch.
lvl 60 monk. 3127 hp 1104 ac.

did it ever occur to you guys verant was anticipating the verbal beating, and intentionally nerf'd monks really hard, only to repatch (knowingly) with slightly increased defensive skills to quell the savage killing beasts we are? so they wouldnt have to continually get flamed on?
Ok lets fuck them over real hard and give them a hug after and hope they feel better, thats how i see it

tonight, I went back to my normal solo Xp spot for the first time since last patches and didnt noticed much change...
I seemed to take quite a few max dmg hit, but thats probably because I was paying attention to it this time.. and I had never looked at that before...
lvl 60, 2800hp, 1130ac, and I ended almost all my battles at 50% as usual, bandaging up, then killing another one.. =)
it was the first time I really played since patch, but I'm not really worried about my monk's futur, he is still able to beat mobs butts easily enough and fun to play as usual =0)
