last couple of entries. apparently pulling a single from the bloodgills by running past them is (one of) the oldest tricks, but i can't work out which, and how to usefully replicate it.

I've only been playing a monk for the last 7 months or so, and due to the slight dearth of groups - much of that has been solo, or in outdoor/luclin "you can't pull 2 if you tried" camps. so i've actually had very little requirement to do complex splits. (i started learning in echo caverns.. which was an introduction the very hard way to splitting)

So can someone tell me which technique i've rediscovered?

Believe he was referring to digging up a really reall old post on FD spilitting, not your comment.

As for how you're getting singles, that's due to lvl differences with agro and time in agro range. Mobs always have a variable delay in how long it takes to notice you. Sometimes with selos/sow you can run through a close lvl's edge of agro range and they won't come, mainly due to the delay in noticing you.

Since you are entering agro range for two mobs, one must be closer to the edge than the other, and with lvl difference (assume both are dark blue?) one just doesn't have enough time, while you are in the other's agro range longer.

I use that to split some spiders in Velk's at times as well. Doesn't work all the time, as the delay in noticing you, wanting to kill you, isn't always the same but works more at 56 than it did at 52 or 53.
