View Full Version : Question on bind wound skill cap

06-09-2003, 07:00 AM
All the charts for monk skills I have seen show that Bind Wound maxes out at 200 skill.

My question is do I have to wait till level 50 to get 200 skill or should I have been able to be at max skill at level 47?

Right now my skill seems to have been stuck at 178 for a long time. I don't know specifically when it hit 178 but it has been a few levels now where I haven't gotten any skill ups.

Do I need to raise my int or something in order for it to go up?

Any response on this topic is appreciated, thanks.

You can get bind wounds to 200 at level 39.

Maybe I will try to petition in game then because my char is lvl 47 and skill is stuck at 178. I know I haven't gotten any skill ups since level 40

Past 160, Bind wound takes a LONG time to raise. I used it A LOT, but don't think it got to 200 until I was either 50 or 51 (this was a while ago for me ). Just keep using it, and it'll get up there.

You can always just buy a boatload of bandages, go to Lavastorm, and do the Lavabath routine too. Many a Monk has done that as well.

Bind Wounds caps at Level*5 + 5, up to the pre-51 cap of 200.

Then it advances another 2 points per level above 50.

At skill 201, Monks are able to bandage their targets up to 70% health.

Anyone can also invest AA points in the First Aid ability to bandage to a higher %. With 3 levels of First Aid and a Bind Wounds skill of 201+, a Monk can bandage his target to 100% health.

Like all skills, advancement slows dramatically from skill 150-200. It took me about 800 bandages to go from 180-201.

It takes a very long time for it to raise. Little trick I did was find a mob thats green and hits for around 30-40 dmg keep siting down until about 10-15% health left, move away from him FD, wait for it to walk off and then bind wound, take a bunch of backpacks full of bandaids with you. Then when you hit lvl 51 just go train your points left up to 201 and then you'll have 70% BW.

I suggest doing this when you are in a real good mood and not bored, as it will get boring quick LOL

thanks for the replies.

Yeah, I was getting paranoid because the skill hadn't gone up in a few weeks and I am always using bind wound. I got some KEI the other day and it went up a few points to 184 so I guess an Int helps to learn.

I like the suggestions you guys gave for getting skill up

and I will probably try them. I like the lavastorm idea. I can raise my swimming skill in the most peculiar way at the same time. =)

Yes, int will help.

And it's always less boring if you can practice several skills at the same time.

I was under the impression that you could not train to 201. There was a skill level cap in place (like 200).

At 51 you can train up to 202; and then 2 points per level until 60 where it caps

"I was under the impression that you could not train to 201. There was a skill level cap in place (like 200)."

200 is the pre-51 skill cap for Bind Wounds. At Level 51, Monks can once again advance their skill.

Yep although I've never actually parsed it, int certainly, and probably wis - which evers they higher, does seem to help your chances of a BW skill gain.

So it's proably worth wearing tradeskilling gear if you're doing the lava bath thing.

I dunno about training it at a guild master anymore. When I got halfway through 52 my bind would finally hit 200. I went to Glox to try and get it up to 201 and was told He can't teach me anymore, I already know everything Maybe they've changed it in the past while?

Careful though.....I was swimming in the pool in PoK for skill ups in swimming, and then letting myself drown until last minute.....swam into the corner of the pool and got stuck...died. This happened about 20 minutes before the 2 hour patch the other day and I was bound in Gunthak, and had never been through the Warrens before, needless to say I was kinda scared the rezz timer would run out before I could get back on after the patch, but got lucky and found a very nice cleric who rezzed me minutes before the patch!
