Totally new monk....

This is really my first melee class so im not really sure what I should be looking for gear wise as a monk. I am only lvl 5 though but i have a 46 druid with about 2k pp that i can spent on my monk atm. hmm 2k you say, well if you can get some wus armor to hold you over for now. That should be dirt cheap. A fighting baton should be a good cheap weapon for you as well. And the new Ulak weapons are pretty inexspensive and do better then just fist damage and they are magic. Fight in Filed of Bone if possisble and if you are Iksar you can work on the Iksar newb quests that should help.
