View Full Version : A goal to shoot for?

04-14-2003, 12:40 PM
Throughout my lvl's I have tried to keep my ac as close to my atk as possible, this worked well (was easy to keep them within 20 points of each other) through lvl 40ish.

At current my ac is running about 100 behind my atk, 913 ac (?), 1020 atk. I got Virtue buff on Sunday and flew through some xp fast (for the first time in weeks), at the cost of many bandages :0)~

I know alot of people out there say hp>all, but hp gear I keep seeing is a meeslee 20-40hp's and suffers 3-4 ac. I am curious what I should shoot for?

What would be Respectable ac for a 48 monk? (how far behind am I)

What would be Respectable hp's for a 48 monk? (again how far behind am I)

Personally, I don't wanna hear things like "you need a Fungi, nuff said", monks solo'ed to 60 before Fungi's were in the game, so obviously a Fungi is not needed. I just want to be able to solo like I was soloing last night, without needing a buff to do it. With Virtue I had 960ish ac and 2800ish hp's, Obviously (to me) it would be a bit unrealistic to be able to obtain anywhere near the hp's I had with the buff. The ac it gave didn't "visually" appear to help much (some mobs were taking 30-50% of my buffed life), which corelates to 60-100% of my unbuffed life (which is what I was seeing before I went to get a buff).

Since, I don't think 2800 hp's is a reasonable goal, what would be? Also is there an ac cap that I should really aim for (like a round 1K so I could notice a difference)? I am planning on staying where I am at (CoM Entrance) til 50, which will mean a couple greenies here and there at 49.

I don't really want equip ideas, (unless it's an item like Shissar Scale Headband, where it gives alot of sta and descent ac, and is fairly underpriced, and ignore the wu's wristband, I am in the process of upgrading it, I just got sick of waiting for kwill the outlander to spawn) I just want to know what ac/hp I should shoot for to be "average", or "slightly", "descently" equipped.

I don't really want to lose ac to gain a meeslee 20-40 hp's. I'd rather increase both, even if I have to lose ac in one slot and replace that ac elsewhere.

I'm not sure about what specific numbers to shoot for, what might help the most is to just look at magelos of monks posting here around your level and also on www.eqrankings.com to see what their stats are. Some will be twinks so keep that in mind, but overall you'll get a good idea of what is normal and how you compare to that.

The highest level attainable before Fungi's were in the game was 50....

1- what daleb said

2- i stopped caring about ac when it went past 1k, but that was long ago, can't remember at what level i reached that personal goal. low 50s probably.

3- at your level, my equipment was much worse than yours. didn't get RotLC until 51 from what i remember

some gear proposals:

black sapphire earrings for 35 hp each

crystal spider eyes for 35 hp in teh face

should run you about 1500 pp total in the bazaar if you don't jump at the first seller.

and if you can, drop the smite stick and the KD, and get luclin+ weapons of similar quality but with stats/hp on them. no clue on pricing there though.

and you may want to look into 2hb soon. tae ew war maul from cazic thule (the zone) is decent with nice hp too.

hope i helped some. soon enough, Norpin will come in and do it all better, but more understandable <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Your right, I mean the day Kunark came out, all the sudden EVERYONE had Fungi's.

/sarcasm off

Sorry my wording was off a bit, some monks had solo'ed to 60 before Fungi's were common knowledge.

It wasn't really until SoL where Fungi's really started hitting the market hard (EC /auction wts Fungi --was rare)

Yes Roonan, thanks

That said, HP buffs like that increase your ability to solo in 2 ways: You have more HP (duh) and it increases the effectiveness of mend. Unless you get gear that gives the same HP/AC, you aren't going to solo like that.

Best way to increase your solo effectiveness at that level is to improve your weapons. Dead mobs don't hit back.

Well, at 51 as a Human Monk I have 1771HP, 919AC, 1038ATK. My gear is mostly Reinforced Acrylia with a couple pieces of Spider Fur. If we ever get enough of us on at the same time, my guild is working on Thurg Armor so hopefully I'll have a few pieces of Grandmaster's mixed in.

I haven't had much luck soloing lately. Brutes in DL are fairly easy, but the mountain giant steeps beat me down 3 out of 4 times unless I get an Aego or better. But that was before the patch so I might be able to handle them easier. I've spent most of my time in Dulak with guildies trying to get some charms/spells to drop. I need 1 last piece for the Brotherhood charm(pretty much useless but a couple extra ac and stats never hurt anyone) and I lost a roll for the glass shard for that haste necklace.

I'm working on getting Run3(2 yellows into Run1 w00t) and then I'll level to 55 so I can get CF1.

.. depends a lot on the critters you are hunting. If you have low ac, the best place to go to hunt things is somewhere in the original pre-kunark zones. Each expansion puts successively higher demands on gear and typically delivers less xp for the effort -- with some exceptions -- until PoP, where xp takes off again and the gear demands for tanking are extreme.
