View Full Version : Another Stealth Nerf

10-17-2002, 05:30 PM
I tried handing Trooper Mozo 4 stacks of 4 bone chips and only got one faction hit instead of 4. Now not only is this quest mind numbingly boring and long but now it will take even longer.

Edit: I added my feedback I sent to Dev Corner

With this recent patch the ability to hand in stacked items has been nerfed? or broken. I am doing the bone chip quest in Field of bone to raise Cabilis factions. The quest requires that you hand in 4 bone chips to Trooper Mozo. It used to be that you could hand in 4 stacks of 4 bone chips and get 4 faction hits. Now you must turn in 4 individually stacked chips. Being that there is no other reasonable way to raise Cabilis faction this change is totally unreasonable. The only other quest to raise Cabilis faction is the Exlplorer Knife Quest where you hand Trooper Vaurk in Lake of Ill Omen. Also the Explorer Knife Quest causes you to lose other factions so is not a viable option to me. It is unreasonable that these are the only two quests/ways to raise other Cabalis factions (besides Necromancer Guild and Legion of Cabilis) and that I must single handedly hand in well over 6000 bonechips individually. I can not express the time consuming boredom that I already suffer gathering all these bone chips. Only to be forced to have to individually hand in thousands of them. I have reached the point with these recent Monk nerfs that I am seriously debating quiting EQ. More and more everyday EQ fills me more with frustration then enjoyment. Thanks for this mind numbing truly boring faction work I must do and thanks for making it even worse now.

Edit: I tested further

I just tested this again on another quest npc Lokar To"Biath in Neriaks Third Gate. His part of a quest requires that you turn in 1 red wine to him and you get 1 faction hit. You can hand in 4 single wines at once and get 4 faction hits. However you can no longer hand in 4 stacks of 4 for a total of 16 faction hits. As you will only get 4 faction hits for your 16 bottles. So multiple stacked items can no longer be handed in for faction.

I wasn't aware that you ever 'could' hand it multiple stacked items.

For faction in HHK its always 1 ear at a time (4 total in 4 slots), never stacked.

For any headband/sash quest that required 2 of the same item they just can't be stacked.

How is this new?

Or am I completely missing something about these other quests?

You used to be able to hand in 4 stacks of 4 for a total of 16 faction hits. Now you can no longer it had been that way since the begining. Now however you can only hand in multiple items unstacked.

Note: Lokar To'Biath's quest requires 1 bottle of wine you could before stack 4 in each of the 4 slots for a total of 16 faction hits at once. Where as Trooper Mozo's quest requires 4 chips for one faction hit. So handing in 16 chips total 4 in each slot resulted in 4 faction hits at once. Now however you can still hand Lokar To'Biath 4 single stacks of wine for 4 faction hits but not 4 stacks of 4 bottles for 16 hits at once. Also Handing Trooper Mozo 4 stacks of 4 chips only gives you one faction hit now.

I don't know when they changed this but it was before this patch, for at least some quests. I tried doing this with the brandy faction quest in qeynos with the same results a couple of weeks ago.

I *think* this has something to do with buying exp - I recall a quest a long time ago that people levelled to 60 on, some drink or other, I forget the name. But anyway, I do recall the quest spam in kaladim and thinking, what the hell are they up to?

Course, I only found out when they nerfed it :/

not quite sure of what you are saying here, you give two examples that are different. Let me explain. 4 bone chips per hit, 4 stacks of 4 bone chips = 4 hits. 4 stacks of 8 bone chips still = 4 hits. So, 1 wine in 4 slots would be 4 hits, 4 wine in 4 slots still 4 hits, anything more is a waste. I do not hink it is broken seeing as how I very recently completed the bone chip quest and never ran into this problem. But, I will check it out again..

.. for my druid the day before the patch. It wasn't a planned "before the patch test", a newbie just happened to be selling a ton of bonechips cheap. So, I bought 'em and handed them in: 4 stacks of 4. Worked fine. I have not tried it after the patch, but it's good to know.

Lokar To'biath has always been 1 hit per wine. You could hand him 4 stacks of 4 wine and get 16 hits. I always have log turned on, so I could probably dig up the ones I have to prove it. He's been like that since just about forever. The first time I did this was about 2-3 months after EQ was released.

that was the Tumpy's Tonic quest... the Kaladim one...

and it was removed a looooong time ago, after Verant found it...

no free exp there... just like the shark meat quest and others...

but the bone chips and wine faction quests worked fine AFTER those were changed for a good long time...

another to check would be the bandage quest in Misty Thicket for Rivervale faction...

Here is a Faction progression chart.

-2000 to -801, scowls at you, ready to attack

-800 to -501, views you threateningly

-500 to -101, scowls at you dubiously

-100 to -1, is apprehensive

0 to 99, is indifferent

100 to 499, is amiable

500 to 699, kindly considers you

700 to 1099, views you warmly

1100 to 2000, you are an ally

The problem as you can see is that to get to dubious it takes 1500 faction adjustments from max scowls. So taking that 4 bone chips equals 1 faction hit it requires you to turn in 6000 chips individually to get to dubious. Add to this the already mind numbing gathering of 6000+ chips and you could see why one would not be happy. They have increased the hand in time by 400%. So as I stated you now still have all the time it takes to gather chips and 400% more time to hand them in. What useful purpose does this serve? None it just makes a already mind numbing and boring task 400% worse. Thanks VI!

4 stacks of 4 would give 4 faction hits - I did this for a mind-numbing 4600 chips a while ago. If it's not working, I'd /bug it.

After patch I gave 4x4 bone hips to Trooper Mozo and just got 1 faction hit, before patch this was giving 4 faction hits.

PS: I just want to max out some of my hometown factions, just for a roleplaying point of view.

I have done most of the quests of the Court of Pain and was not ally after 2nd Shackle of Tynnonium, not ally after Whistling Fists <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":">

Ok I have helped one or two chanter friends for their epics but I gave hundreds of bone chips in pennance.
