View Full Version : Newbie monk/eq player - question about creation
Hi all, I'm new to both eq and the monk class and I had one question. I've been browsing through the board (friend told me about this sweet site) and it says to create the monk with 20 into sta. Well when I first made my monk I followed the advice from the eq casters site and it said to put 20 into str. Well I did that and now I'm wondering if its important I start over with 20 into sta. Hes only level 23 and is an Iskar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks

Putting your starting points into stamina is helpfull, but by no means essential. I basically did the same thing you did with my starting stats, but decided that I didn't want to spend the time leveling up again with a remade monk.

Sta is one of the harder stats to raise with gear. The key is to at least try and get it to 100 since you will lose some stats once your stamina bar is depleted. This isn't an issue at lower levels but once you get to higher levels, fights against the mobs will last longer. Luckily you have choices of gear to get the stamina up (ie acrylia) so once you start looking for gear upgrades, focus on getting the stamina to at least 100. Check other monk profiles around your level to get an idea of what people are wearing.

You'll be fine. Stats really have pretty limited effect on the game these days anyway, especially to monks. 100 Sta will be fine is most cases.
And don't ever pay attention to a Castersrealm creation guide again. They haven't been updated in years, and they were made when stats had a bit more of an effect in some ways. And I've noticed they seem to say almost for every class to put points into STA except those that need it.

Agree with the above - stamina is good, but not worthy of restarting unless you have more pressing reasons - i.e. you want to change your race for some reason or something like that.
My starting stats are strength rather than stamina based from memory, not that big a handicap really in the scheme of things.
