View Full Version : People, money talks. Use the power you have.
Verant/Sony is in business to make money. Do you think the CEO or CFO or Sony gives a crap about whether Everquest is a class-balanced game? They care about whether the game continues to make the company money, and whether the game is vital or losing steam.
The fact is, very few (if any) warriors/plate classes left the game because monks were too powerful. So monks being too powerful wasn't really an economic concern for Sony. Thus, the latest monk nerf is a game-developer concern, not an economic concern.
MAKE it an economic concern. If a lot of us cancel our accounts because of the nerf, Sony will be forced to at least consider alternatives to the nerf.
Money runs our society. Active accounts equals money. We have the numbers to make an effect. Don't sit passively by. FORCE Sony to reconsider and make meaningful and well-conceived changes rather than just taking the easy route and nerfing. I am not saying changes don't need to be made to monks. I am saying there are better ways than outright nerfs.
I guarantee that if the SOny higher-ups see a drastic change in the cancellation rate they WILL come down on design/development to do something about it.
You have the power, use it. I already have.

The real way is to write to the people in charge of the profit margins and income of these types of games ,,Do you think they wouldnt listen if 1k in emails appeared on the computer stating they will no longer support or purchase another Verant /Sony product when the management of such products are not capable of satisfying the customer base?
I know for a fact if the CEO of my company said,,,Im sorry but we all make mistakes and now we want to fix them ,,2 years after they implemented the basic product. They would get a front line early retirement posting from the local newspage. That is bad management,,bad programming ,,and bad forsight. Try listening to what the Customers want ,,not what a few Upper level players who dictate only .005% of the customer sales base have to whisper in your ear.

Yep cancel your account, it means nothing in a gameplay sense, you can still play (until your paid for time runs out) and your toons will be fine.
However canceling your accout does SHOW Verant how displeased you are.
Also send in feedback to the Dev corner on EQlive.

*shrugs* I cancelled my account the second I read the changes. All the recent crap they've put in in the recent months has added up (resist nerf, npc caster ownage, etc...).
This was just the final nail in the coffin.
If this was the only thing they did, I doubt the rage would be as great as it is. The thing is, EVERY bad change in the game in the recent months have hurt monks severely. How many of you don't want to try to pull that wizzy mob sitting there, knowing you'll get nuked to death in 5 seconds?

I am honestly surprised that a company like Sony keeps a company like Verant. Yes, I know they make money with this game, but, I doubt that they are aware how much harm things like that bring to the name SONY. I am not kidding, I was a Sony fan all the way since a lot of years, if it was for TV, HIFI whatever, Sony was almost always my goal. Just can tell you that has significant changed for me and sooner or later I might get to a point where I refuse to buy Sony stuff if theres anything comparable (and there usally is) around.

VI can be clueless, but they're not stupid, if enough people cancel the nerf may still go through, but it'll be a change of defensive nature (so when we get hit we get hit hard, but proportioanlly we avoid more damage - the same amount) not a directed reduction/nerf in defensive power. (i.e. solo, pulling, grouped L1-65)

Cancelled my mule account..but havent felt like playing my monk since this nerf was announced. Why bother when effectively they have nerfed off the hps given by ALL of my equipment.

Cancelled both of my accounts. Whats making all this worse for me is the fact that one of my RL friends is friends with he "new" development team, and everytime players get nerfed from regen, to caster changes, to this I have to hear how great the new team fargin is.
Its like rubbing salt in my wounds, or Verant pissing down my back and my friend telling me its really just raining.

The best of luck to ye!
I, on the other hand am contuing my play. I enjoy this game and seeing my friends get more powerful. Yes I said friends which seem to be in short supply these days with the mass population of Norrath... As the guild leader of a moderately-powerful guild (About 4 vindi kills now) there's not a whole lot dropping for me Monk at this stage, but I still go on long-ass raids and pull and die numerous times and I'm never happier with myself than when I see someone else get something good.
In that respect: This patch doesn't effect me one bit. If you want to cancel accounts and send E-mails and suchforthe that is completely within' your power and I wish you the best of luck! But I for one am not going to let some stupid nerf we know too little about ruin my game for me.

That is exactly the point [of canceling accounts] though, to make sure it does*NOT* ruin the game.

I'm not cancelling my account yet but I have not and will not buy PooP till I see and hear how this nerf works out. If they rebalance us in other area's I will most likely buy PooP but if they don't bring us inline with our other stats I'm not going to bother and will most likely quit.

very true. however, a lot of people have been burnt out and/or on the edge of quitting for a while. when vi goes and does something like this, it is just the last straw and makes it that much easier to cancel and call it quits for good.
i am one of those people. if after the patch, i cannot solo the same mobs i used to or if i get my ass handed to me even more than before on pulls, i will just not renew my subscriptions, uninstall eq, and focus on RL & work until the next mmorpg (not made by vi) comes out and give it a try.

I won't be buying poop either and although i haven't cancelled my account i'm getting close to it and i've given VI feedback to that effect. I'll never pull now either upon hearing all the hatred that is directed towards monks.

also a good point, but that isnt what the poster had in mind...i think hes trying to say cancel your acct til its gets fixed (if its broken, i wouldnt know), but quitting outright is quitting without a plan to come back

Cancel your account because you can still come back if it really isn't that bad or if they change it back . I cancelled for cash reasons, but I was gonna comeback to keep Keevar alive ; ). May not now... Cancelling at least shows you have the cajones to leave. I, for one, am gonna try out Anarchy Online. Lol I read their message boards... I was amazed. The dev team has a very open/active communication with the players there lol, but ppl still bitch, however it is about the company doing fixes they said they were going to make in the beginning when the game came out (they put out a list of things they were going to fix/change). Lol kinda silly really when you're used to VI's crap.

Canceling your account doesn't mean you *have* to quit (you can if you want and if you are going to quit it's the first stage), however all it really does is stop VI from using your Credit Card to renew your subscription (which is a good idea any way to stop them having any billing mistakes i.e. taking extra cash from your card).
You can still play for the amount of time you've already paid for (1, 3, 6, 12 months etc.), it just simply won't re-subscribe you automatically, you just have to do it manually.
What it does do is send the message that IF they are simply going to nerf (for no good reason) without equally re-balancing monks then a lot of people are going to be unhappy and may very well quit.
Hehe PoP = poop. Heh, sorry but that's funny.

In fact cancelling all accounts and waiting for the renewal date to put it on a monthly basis could be a form of protest.
At least it must show somewhere some form of discontent.
You just have to reenter your Credit Card information if you feel like playing when it expires and it has to be a voluntary gesture.
Not such a bad idea after all.

Lol, eq used to have an open board as well. they killed it shortly after they started the whole class balancing thing. peeps were attacking other classes, fussing and fighting(hmm. sounds like today /grin) but it was nixed(I'm thinking it was about the same time they quit letting us see server population as well. not sure though, been awhile.

Yup, it's also the ONLY fool proof method of stoping VI's charging system messing up and over charging your credit card. (although admittedly they seem to have become better at not doing this recently )

Farewell friends. Unless VI figures out a more appropriate way to balance our class, I too am gone. (Hint - Up the AC cap...doh)
Here are the first 4 letters of the 5 accounts that I cancelled tonight. Be sure that I will not purchase PoP for them, nor will I play SWG and EQ2. I am certain that VI can do a search to verify their cancellation.

Logged onto test and spoke to a few monks there. Heard bad news regarding soloing and even tanking Velks.
Cancelled my second account (one with the monk main).. will wait to see if they do or dont implement this nerf live.. possibly will wait to see what bones they throw us in PoP.
Would restart as an SK if I could be bothered but whats the point when the game is so non-persistant (is that a real word?).

If all the monks did a nice /feedback oh i dont know every 30 mins or so i think verant might open up a bit =)...

Depending how bad it is (I haven't been able to log in a verify it yet), I will cancel both of my accounts, and do a /feedback every time I log on until my subscription ends. Not that it will help, as VI will just filter out all feedbacks with the word "monk" or "changes" in it, but maybe it'll make me feel better.

Seems to be about a 10-15% defence nerf, unless you have gear 200ac or more above the ac soft cap for the mob you're fighting.

As noble as your actions may be,

It dosnt mean a damn thing to Verant. EQ is in its final stages, just like AC was about a year ago. New and better games are comming out, and well to be frank Verant dosnt care anymore.
