View Full Version : New info on FS slot in swg

ok well I guess they think we're all stupid so they've given a very large hint into the whole thing.
First off, all holocrons in game were turned into holocron splinters (there was a way you could farm them like mad by taking a quest and cancelling repeatedly)
Now, any new dropped holocrons gives a hint about your FS path.
People on test have found and used them, they give a message like "a mysterious voice says, ' to continue the path of enlightenment, get Master Bio-Engineer'"
different people get different professions, seemingly random, not necessarily to do with what profession you started with.
Basically it seems the game picks some skill boxes at random when you make your character, and you need to get every one of those skills at some point (not necessarily keep it, just have it once).
I had thought of this a while back when I was thinking of programmable ways to do it, while keeping in line with the 'rules' they set out to begin with.
Now no one knows if this is ALL you need to do, or just one part of it. Without the holocron hints now, you'd pretty much have to master every profession to do it though :P

Sounds like the devs finally finished creating the Jedi class. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">
The professions can't be totally random tho, can they? I mean, what if that person who was told he must become a master bio-engineer had no interest in trade skills? Surely the game must generate those class reqs based on the skills the players choose early in their careers.

doesnt seem it. someone made a novice marksman and looted one, it said master brawler
also heard of a scout getting master dancer
really though, the devs have been hinting at this for a while hehe, they keep saying once you max out your character, go try something new :P

I still stand by my theory that the whole Jedi class and FS path were unfinished at release time.
They've used the excuse of, "Well it takes a long time to unlock the slot" to cover up the time it has taken them to get the Jedi and FS path finished up.
It wasn't until a few weeks back that alot of the Jedi "text messages" were moved to the client. If the Jedi and FS code was in and available from Day 1, why wasn't this already there?
I'll be anxious to see what a Holocron tells someone once they have masted the class that the Holocron told them to master.
Plus I'm surprised that nobody has posted a Holocron telling them anything other than, "You must Master XXXX". Surely with the large number of people getting them and using them, one of the people would have already mastered the class on their "path".
Plus I've now read about people finding "Sith Holocron"s, and "Holocron"s, but no "Jedi Holocron"s, which is what Q or Shug-Nix or some dev posted a screenshot of. I've also read of the same person using 2 Holocrons, and being told they must master 2 different professions.
Do you have to have them mastered at the same time? Or just have to have them mastered at some point?
This all just seems incredibly hokey to me... possibly another stall tactic to force people to spend even more hours grinding away while the programmers scramble to finish coding.

The path is clear? What kind of helpful hint is that supposed to be? It must just mean that you've satisfied all the "Master XXX Class" requirements. But you still are left in the dark as to what to do next.
Sure they shouldn't hold your hand... but I mean come on!! I'm one of the crazy nuts who bought SWG because I wanted to be a Jedi. Yes I know they said it would take a long long time to unlock one... Yes I know buying the game in the hopes of becoming a Jedi was stupid... I don't care. It's Star Wars, I want to be a Jedi. I do not want to pay for 3 years so I can bumble around visiting every X,Y coord on every single planet with 0 indicators of my progress. That's just not cool man.

path is clear means most likely that one of the professions they are currently they have to get master in.,..it just doesn't say WHICH one..
shrug hows server population going? i'm curious.
i still don't think the game is good enough for me to play yet - maybe when vehicles player cities(official) and there are actual jedi running around....or maybe at the space expansion, atleast then the game will have been live for a long time
take AO - awfully broken game at release
now 2 years later it is regarded as one of the best....

I'm not sure how the server population is... I'm also an idiot in the fact that I'm still paying for my SWG account even though I haven't played in a while.
Should a definite path to force sensitivity come out, I want to be able to jump back in and work on it.

Pulled this off of the VN Boards, so take it with a grain of salt. Supposedly the quote came from the Stratics website.

Q-3PO stopped by to let us know there could be some player Jedi soon... take a look:
When it comes to information about Jedi, we’re generally going to keep a closed lip. There have been a lot of rumors in the past few months. Some have been true, most haven’t. Here is what I will tell you though:
I expect to see our first Jedi within the next couple of weeks. We’ll let you know when that happens. If someone tells you they have already become a Jedi, they probably aren’t being truthful or are playing a different Star Wars game. We have been making some tweaks to the Jedi system from internal testing (little stuff like final death=loss of all skills, not deletion of character. Effectively it is the same thing, except you don’t have to keep hunting for a new name with your force sensitive slot - unless you want to that is)
The one rumor I will confirm, this upcoming publish will introduce the Dark Jedi. Currently on the Jedi FAQ we say that it is a future feature. I want to let you know that the future has come. Dark Jedi is one of those features we’ve been working on behind the scenes and it is finally just about through internal testing. Looks like it is just in time.

LOL, yea great "timing"... Pretty much confirm every speculation that it wasnt in before. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif ALT=":o"> I find reading about SWG amusing. Probably more entertaining then actually playing it anyway. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

as for server population, I pretty much only play real late nights (past 1am EST), and the readouts are mostly light, with a couple mediums thrown in the mix
havent really checked at peaktime
</p>
Give me a break. Let me translate that post for those of you who need a little help.

I expect to see our first Jedi when we implement the last set of prerequisites to become one in a couple weeks.

Don't be gullible enough to still believe the people who have been telling you that they are Jedi for the last four months because Jedi haven't been put into this game yet.

Betatesting of the Jedi class is almost done and we are getting the final bugs out. Expect to see it in game soon! In addition, new Jedi will automatically start at level 10 with all their spells and a 200 sense heading skill.

Expect Dark Jedi to enter the game at roughly the same time as player Jedi.

I know my post is useless and unnecessary but damn that was funny :P
