Beta boards are going kinda crazy too, but things have calmed down a bit.

I think these things are well justified, especially if they manage to get them in later. I think the most notable thing is the player cities, and they've said that it was a matter of weeks that decided that one. That's the one that appears to have the biggest impact, and is the easiest to add. Vehicles are eyecandy to me. Player-designed missions are really exploitable and you can use em to grief people, but when they're fixed they'll be in.

I saw a list that was way longer than that, len...with some stuff that didn't make any sense (someone claimed there was no craftable armor. Right). Don't get discouraged. It's still a hell of a lot of fun.

Seriously, when you get your Beta invite, we'll have to run around some. =)

there is more than that, been reading their Boards alot lately... its getting bad

· No in-game bulletin boards

· Can't move buildings/structures in player towns

· No bases, towns or in-game territory

· No player run cities

· No housing, buildings or structures

· No vehicles

· No ridden mounts

· No criminals or Hutts

· No PvP "safe" areas

· Badge system changed

· No politicians

· No slicing profession

· No poison foods for chefs

· No building armor for armorsmiths

· No dark jedi

· No player generated missions

is the list I got....

I know I won't be buying this til game for a long while.

Not to meantion Permadeath in a MMOG, what kind of horse shit is that.

Also they won't even be testing the Jedi Systems til the game launches. You know it is going to take FOREVER with them doing it in house.

Why the hell does Sony Always underestimate their Player base.

That's what I was talking about. A good deal of that is BS/inflated.

In game BBS - never planned.

Move buildings/etc in player towns - No player towns, can still move buildings, etc.

Bases/towns/in-game territory - Not sure on this one

Player Run Cities - Previously covered, couple weeks to implement, couple weeks to test, devs really want this one in

No Housing/Buildings/Structures - Utter BS. You'll still be able to get buildings, place them, use them for various things, etc.

Vehicles - True, this one dosen't bother me much.

Ridden mounts - Don't know if this was ever planned...how is this different from vehicles? =)

Criminals or Hutts - Probably true. Dosen't stop you from RPing a criminal.

No PvP 'Safe' areas - BS. You are only in PvP danger when you want to be, hence this dosen't matter.

Badge system changed - So? Should I list the 50 things that change every patch? =b

No Politicians - There wasn't a role for them without player cities, really.

No Slicing Profession - The skills are there, but fall under different trees.

No Poison Foods - This was never planned, never claimed to be in.

No building armor - BS. Maybe they mean armor for buildings? I don't even know if buildings take damage, this is total garbage. Armorsmiths can make armor. =b

No Dark Jedi - True, annoying, yes. But there's a lot of time between now and when the first jedi show up.

No Player Gen'd missions - Very exploitable (hence removed from shipping feature set), but will be in when they have tested the HELL out of it. Obvious reasons for this, griefing/exploiting needs to be closely looked at.

Permadeath: Don't go Jedi. I'm not planning on it. Can you think of a way to make a jedi rare without resorting to stuff like this? Jedi are going to be awe-inspiring characters, not 'yet another 65 9khp warr'. I'm in favor of making it hard.

yeah one of the devs said a jedi knight can probably defeat a full group of players - note a full group is 20 players.

trin answered most of them

Personally im not bothered one bit. Id rather they leave out the systems until they get it right. I think the suits have told them they have a deadline now of the 15th of april and personally i wanna play, with or without most of that stuff. Not to mention i really dont think they will jip us out of them for long. I still have faith in the Devs.

from what the massive posts came to is basically

yo we have to put this out sometime, these are the major things we are leaving out until they are done RIGHT...

that said i think they have done the right thing, i mean from what they said they added ALOT of content in the form of poi/static quests/dynamic quests etc etc etc

the figure quoted is they tripled the amount of these things.

if the gameplay is good and the CONTENT is good they have a winner. i figure within a month after release playercity and the pol. profession will be in the game and within 3 months dark jedi since ya gotta get the jedi slot first, THEN live...

Just finished reading all the Dev posts on the SWG boards also, as Trinary mentioned most of these concerns are unfounded. Here are some extra points to add:

<blockquote>Quote:<hr>Bases/towns/in-game territory - Not sure on this one<hr></blockquote>

By using faction points you can place turrents and mine fields, that is how this is done atm.

<blockquote>Quote:<hr>Criminals or Hutts - Probably true. Dosen't stop you from RPing a criminal.<hr></blockquote>

Although this is relevant it was also information that was released at least 3 months ago, nothing new.

<blockquote>Quote:<hr>Vehicles - True, this one dosen't bother me much.

Ridden mounts - Don't know if this was ever planned...how is this different from vehicles? =)<hr></blockquote>

Aye, they use almost the same coding. It has been said that mounts and vehicles should be ready about the same time.

So out of the list posted above the only real new cuts are:

· No player run cities

· No vehicles

· No ridden mounts

· No dark jedi

· No player generated missions

Not a problem as long as they are free-patched soon after release, if they come in a paid-for expansion it won't be pretty though. They have indicated it wil be free patch but younever know until the D/L is complete. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

My opinion is that I am happy with the way Jedi are described atm (obviously balancing must be careful) and the latest cuts (actually delays) are justified and palatable.

Hope to see you in there.

I think I read that one of the dev's posted that they are probably going to include the art for the vehicles on the release cd, so that once they get the code done they can just patch it, instead of waiting for the SE. The dev's said that the main thing holding them back from patching the vehicles was that there would be tons of art to add to the game that simply wouldn't fit in a patch for size and budget reasons.

DAoC still hasn't got player housing, player horses in (not to mention some of the tradskills) and they were promised by Xmas after release.

Along with other things that have gone completely, disguise, PC merchants etc.

Hopefully SWG will be a little better at adding post release.

You know i wasnt really all that interested in playing a jedi before they released all this new information. I would feel kinda stupid to be one of the mindless thousands that all they want to do is become a all powerful jedi. But the system they are using is really neat i think. Now i am kinda looking forward to maybe unlocking my FS slot, though i highly doubt anyone will ever find out im a jedi unless i deem a situation worthy of my closely guarded talents. I think id have to help out an innocent if the situation was there. I think the system really gives alot to the roleplaying aspect of the jedi. Im all excited now.
