Last night, my friends the Shadow Gypsies on Rallos Zek decided to do the Plane of Fear, and they invited me along, since they don't have any monks anyway. We stood 40 strong, and we were all ready to enter in all buffed up and everything. Our raid leader tells my group to enter in first, and we did. The other 5 groups came in about 20 seconds afterwards after each other.

One of our clerics, Gannondorph, was very fortunatly already bound at the safe spot. Two enchanters, Beguileress and Kaelaelyanya, safely make it to the safe spot, as dod one of our necros, Winkin. I had to feign death after I got agro halfway along the way.

I watched nearly everyone else there get killed.

KILLED BEFORE WE COULD EVEN START.

Now its my duty to recover everyone. Never before in my life have I ever been flooded with corpse consents. I ever cautiously go around and collect as mainy corpses, always having to take a few steps, feign, drag corpses, get up, and repeat. I"m able to get some 25 bodies to the safe spot to begin rezzes. I went back for more bodies, but my feign death failed, and I got killed.

I didn't let that stop me though. I got a port from a druid from the guild and headed back to the portal to Fear. I was buffed up again, and dove in naked. I grab a few more corpses, but I unfortunatly once again get killed, before I could get to the safe spot with those bodies.

Once again though I ported down, got buffed up, and dove in again. I wasn't going to give up. This time though, I got all those bodies I was dragging, including both of mine, and two other clerics who could help with the rezzes.

By this time, our raid leader took my advice, and the guild known as Temerity came in and took over. They could have the plane, we just wanted our bodies back.

Unfortunatly for all of us, most of the corpses left had less than 30 minutes before they would no longer be able to be rezzed. The people who's corpses I was able to get to the safe spot were easily rezzed and saved. That left me with about 8 more corpses left out there that were unfortunatly located close to the portal. Sadly to say those few remaining people lost thier XP, but I gave them thier corpses nonetheless, and at this point thats all they wanted.

Despite all the damn scarelings who have massive agro ranges and everything, I was able to get back all the last remaining bodies.

We got everyone rezzed or revived, which strangely enough some bodies couldn't even be revived for some reason, but we had no difficulties getting them here. I needed to call it a night, so I got a translocate out of there and logged. I momentarily stopped into the chat server though, where a Rallos Zek guide was hanging out along with a GM. I explained the situation to them, and they said if they were allowed to do so, they would very quickly give me a medal of honor for my heroics.

Don't get me wrong folks. I'm not trying to gloat or brag about how I ended up being a whole guild's savior, but I ended up being anyway. I wish the day did not even happen so that nobody would have lost anything.

There was only other bad fear experience I wish I could have gone without was back in October of last year. Our raidleader gave us the order to charge onto Fright, when all of a sudden we see this message in full red letters:

"CAZIC THULE COMMANDS HIS MINIONS TO TAKE UP ARMS AGAINST THE INVADERS OF HIS REALM!"

BOOM! Instant repop of everything and everyone in the entire zone. Our raid was destroyed right there and then. I was unable to help with corpse recover then. The CR lasted well over 24 hours if you count all the individuals who had to log and get their body later on, so many people lost XP there too.

------------------------------------------------------------

I'm the only monk in my raid alliance, The Ring of Steel, so my role is quite vital, and my friends look up to me. I've done CR's for other raids including even Plane of Hate and Nagafen's Lair a couple times. (DO ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY CLUE HOW FREAKIN' SCARY IT IS TO HAVE A SHADOWKNIGHT KEEP A LITTLE AGRO ON NAGGY, AND HAVE HIM JUST KEEP RUNNING OVER YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN WHILE YOU PULL CORPSES???!??!?!???) I've had to pull Hate, Fear, Kael Drakkel, Plane of Sky, Dragon Necropolis, Ixiblat Fir, Venril Sathir, and Chardok to name a few.

Anyway, what I'm trying to get at with this thread is I wanna hear your own stories of valliant acts of heroism.

Wow. That was very cool, Yuffie. I wish I had the patience to do a CR that is 2+ hours. I had a similar experience.

My guild went to raid Dragon Necropolis, and while our puller was pulling (Paladin, but he's very skilled) some spiders repopped on us. Well someone got warped VERY far and aggroed a few spiders, didnt even notice. Ran back trying to kill all the spiders asap. All the enchanters went OOM trying to mez all the stupid spiders. Well, it ends up we killed none of the spiders. =

I ended up having to look for corpses all over the place because people kept getting warped everywhere. Was actually kinda fun despite the fact that I had 5 spiders aggroed on me through the whole CR.

At the time, I was new to the guild (joined a few days before the raid) and I wasnt recognized by the guild for my corpse dragging but I had a feeling of heroism in me. =) Was a great day.

Once again, your acts were extremely cool Yuffie. ^_^ Good luck on future raids.

I went on a Fear Raid recently and had a similar expierence. As soon as the break group zoned in they kept getting trained by someone pulling MOBs from the hill to the safe point. Then I went in, I did what I was told, which was to stand and die on the hill if agroed so the groups at safe point didn't get trained.

Finally we all got back in, rezzes for some but others, like myself, had the rez timer run down. So we got buffed up and ready to go, when I see in white "Fright shouts, Galof!" which was one of the monks in our guild. Then I see Dracoliche chasing someone and I knew we were in for a world of hurt. The raid leader told the casters to camp but it was too late for me. Let the corpse runs begin again...

But it wasn't so bad, I was bound just outside, and soon I was able to zone back in. By this time some were getting a little tired of dieing so they left. Once the remainder of us got our corpses back and/or were rezzed, there was a system wide message....All servers will be coming down in 15 minutes, so once we got into our groove we all had to leave.

This was on the Bertoxx server. I wasn't involved in the corpse runs, although, because my monk wasn't planes worthy yet.
