View Full Version : anyone else think Driving is way more fun than flying?
I got my 1st vehicle the thresher it is pretty cool. It is a hover 2 person craft, it rocks.
I was flying thru a forest, Finally got a gunner and he was a good one at that. I think i scared him I hit the side of a mountain and did a full barrel roll before landing perfectly in a valley.
He said it was some of the craziest and best driving he had seen. We took out 3 reavers, countless troops, atleast 4 MAXes it was great
So far I have only flown a mosq in game Reaver in VR and I think the sky or altitude limit is way to low. I couldn't do any loops or any of those types of manuvers.
Another thing is I like to only drive or only gun and you get to do that in alot of ground vehicles
I am not saying air support is any less important just on the fun factor alone the Ground is the best.

I prefer flying. Nothing quite like the thrill of loading up a galaky full of badasses and shipping them into the battle. Its also nice to fly reavers as galaxy wingmen. I like the way the flight is more like a helicopter than an actual plane. I wouldnt be so keen on plane like flying.

Maybe I might unlearn Reaver certs, but for now I'll play with it and try to shoot people down, getting used to it.
Who knows I might still want to get a tank or something like that. It's a lot easier to maintain driving in a tank than trying to control your altitude and speed at the same time while you're going to fly straight into a mountain ^.^

With the joystick support I'm going to have to try reavers again. I took Galaxy just for the sheer convience of getting pickup squads & having transport for when my regular squad is on.
On the subject of vehicles and today's /gu (http://www.gucomics.com/archives/view.php?cdate=20030430) - Has anyone found a good reliable to jump harassars? Are there any better vehicles for this? Some people mentioned a certain model of rock you can find that you can get big air off.....

You might want to wait a little before trying to fly with a joystick. The joystick support is really buggy. The y axis doesn't respond correctly and none of the default settings work. I have also heard that a crash to desktop can corrupt the joystick drivers.

It could be because the flight model is horrible, and because Reaver pilots can all die. :P

Wraith's make great jump cycles. they get fantastic air over certain terrain.
I unlearned it when I finally got a 3rd cert point. and went with sunderer to help augment the outfit. My system isn't all that great so i put myself into more of a support role. I have an infiltration suit, adv hacking, AMS driver and Sunderer Driver. might lose the sunderer if the outfit thinks another Engineer would be more helpful for fixing all the MAX units during Base caps.

they should make is so that planes can incline more, if not be able to turn upside down
possibly even stall your plane if you don't watch yourself...
some of the most exciting moments I ever had in fling games was when I stalled the air plane a couple whousand feet in the air and had to gain control of the plane before it fell out of the sky like a rock.
I also think you should be able to spin/barrel roll your plane.
It may be to much for starter pilots cause you could put yourself into the ground alot easier but it would make for more effective/ exciting base runs
With the increased controls you would be able to have better dog fights

I found a fantastic spot for Wraith and Basilisk jumping.
The walk-up ramps at the vehicle spawn points are fantastic. if you can line yourself up straight on, you can jump about twice the width of a standard ground vehicle spawn.
I was once able to jump from the front ramp over the back wall of the spawn terminal as well.
Some good stuff there.

will be sure to try that
there should be more natural jumps just for the fun of it.
Can you imagine if the zelda sword rock had a better angles and smoother way to get on it, heh
I could just see it, me flying my reaver at about 200 feet. Then outta no where flies in front of me or crashes into the side of me.
It would be great, funny, Very very rare but still good.
If I could add one thing to the game it would be a in-game spot where people could go for dogfights, of course a tank could come there and start sniping people out of the sky but in general people would be there to fight in there planes.
Over time I hope the players assign such a spot

I've found most dogfights to be.. not boring, but not enough close battles, usually I have to weave in and out of tree's w/ afterburners on to get enjoyment of trying to loose enemy's... than my afterburners go bye bye and I feel like i'm going snail type speed.
They should definately add an implant to use your stamina as afterburner fuel in mosq's/reavers/galaxy's. Of coarse this won't happen because they're too busy working on getting the game FIXED for launch. Not like they're going to be adding content in dirrectly after the release either.
