you know what, its pretty damn fun.
last nite nothign was happening in eq so i figured play planetside for an hr and then bed - this was 11pm eastern.. i went to bed after 4am
also i am getting BETTER and being a "grunt" - ie i'm down to about losing 75% of the time. i am winning ALOT more often now - last nite i got 6 infiltrators 1 on 1 in the span of 30 minutes during one base attack- hell i was attacked by 2 at the same time and won...
tip for you infiltrator/hackers- run is your ENEMY- WALK. nothing funnier than seeing the hacker RUNNING towards you with knife drawn,..and you can see him due to him moving too fast(clear figure).
advanced medical
lightning driver - great cert - those grenades go FAR using ballistics to umm lob over the walls or destroy turrets, or lob into hallways.. though its a good way to up your grief points i htink i had 60 before i logged last nite.
certs right now with advanced targeting implant.
was thinking of trying wraith cert or maybe sniper.
or going full heal and being advanced medical/advanced engineer (could take this next level)

I sniped like 3 of those infilration guys when they would run, not sure why they were doing that.
also played as an vs max, that was sweet being able to jump like that.
The one think I don't like about being a vs is at great distances it is hard to see the colors on the uniforms and the NC look very alike. I sniped a couple of my team aswell. The TR are easy to distinguis but those NC are to alike esp when the color is fading in and out due to infilteration suit.

It's kind of funny but in some ways I am enjoying PS more than EQ now. It's like when EQ was brand new and everytime I imrpoved or lelveled or did something new I felt this great accomplishedment. That's how PS feels now. As you get new levels and certs you feel good. When you win an encounter you get a warm fuzzy. When you try a new tactic and it works you feel like you won the "game". It's just a cool game all around. And the fights are getting bigger and better all the time. I'm definitely going to buy it May 19th. Woot!

i was in a battle saturday night where there was a good 200 people on either side fighting... the line at the vehicle pad was like 30 deep...
oh and i got a few tanks too with my lightning, nothing like being able to out manuver a large tank in a base compound.

I found the Vanu Magrider to be one hell of a hit-and-fade vehicle. Its very "smooth" handling to even when my FPS goes to sh*t around bases I can manage to avoid most walls. Its the only heavy tank to sport a driver operated gun, so even if you do'nt have a gunner its pretty effective. That and my kill total went way up after running over a bunch of infantry. And a MAX or two. HAH!
Advanced Medical is a pretty "worthless" cert right now. I'm sure they'll improve on it, but I took it with a character and NEVER rezzed another soldier... They just don't wait around long enough and in the massive zerg battles of late its hard to find a squad that can stick together for longer than 10 seconds.

yeah we gotta work on tactics, i usually hang in the back as a fight is going on going ...see me to heal up don't die and waste time
would heal people with 5hp left,,,, or go if you die WAIT i will ress... helps alot, problem is too many people ,,,do not stand still SO I CAN HEAL..
but i'm dumping lightning to od not wraith, but prolly a light vehicle and then engineer so i can be advanced medical/advanced engineer, heal and Repair all in one.

I'm having a blast playing this. Decided to go the sniper route for now. Got the advanced targetting implant and was hoping it would help me distinguish friend from foe at long ranges. Still hard to tell or else I'm doing something wrong. Actually took out a friendly yesterday
Any suggestions on ways to identify friend from foe at long ranges?

Being a med is definately needing it's perks. Too many people ignore the fact that you're healing them. Hence why I unlearned and went MAX. I also found being a hacker way quiet. My place is apparently on the front lines

the crosshairs should be red when on an enemy, green when on a friend.

I've played all three corps so far and i like the TR and Vanu best, even though that phoenix is alot of fun to use I must have killed 20 maxes and tanks in our attack on the dropship center in cyssor(sp?).
I was in a NC Tank division last night. we had 4 vanguards, a ams and a mosquito and we were tearing shit up everywhere. At one point I was gunning for our squad leader against 2 prowlers thanks to his awesome driving abilities and our lightning helping we finished the last prowler (since i was out of 150mm ammo).
What a night. I must agree that those vanu Max's are fun as hell, as are the TR's but I havent tried the NC maxes yet... Im not a huge fan of shotguns /shrug.
See ya in game!

My main guy right now is an Inf/Combat Engineer and let me tell ya, it's a blast!
I studied the Infiltration suit and developed a strategy that works pretty damn good for me. I kill at about a 4:1 ratio.
Thing is, if it weren't for "friendly fire" my ratio would be more like 7:1 or even 8:1. I'm forever getting blown up by my own team when we share a target. Being invisible and armorless has as many disadvantages as advantages.
Anyway, here's my favorite thing to do in the whole world:
I stay outside and all around a base for a bit, watching to see which direction enemy troops are coming from. I backtrack until I find their AMS.
I set up 4 spitfire turrets a lil outside their "bubble", one on each corner, then link them with 2 motion detectors.
I keep my AMP armed in case anyone actually makes it out of the kill box.
This nets me about a bub of exp every minute.
Once they've knocked out 2 of my spitfires I move into the bubble and hack the AMS so my team can use it. On my way away from the vehicle I re-equip and look for something else to sabotage. hehe
-----------------------------------
To me, this is what an Infiltrator is designed for. Any turd with a REK can hack the CC, and any Inf that takes an enemy on directly deserves to get whacked - hard. It takes strategy, patience and finesse to be a guerilla fighter and saboteur.
If I want to whack you you will never know I'm there until you're respawning. If I notice you're wearing light armor I'll get directly behind you with my AMP and unload. If you're in Reinforced or better I'll get behind you with a Boomer (like a claymore mine) and detonate it right under your butt.
If you travel with a buddy so you feel safer it just means more exp for me. If you seperate I stalk one of you, if you clump together it's Boomer time.
If you fly an aircraft don't you dare land it anywhere in the SOI. With my Surge implant I can cover large distances fairly quickly and when I get there, depending on how much time I think I have I'll either jack it while I'm standing right next to you or I'll plant a Boomer right underneath it and watch it burn. heh
If you drive a vehicle don't you dare stop moving. That's right, I'm an Inf that stalks vehicles. With Surge I can run as fast as a MAX for 3 minutes straight, and that's generally more than enough time for me to close the distance to you. If you give me a 3-second window of stillness I will plant a Boomer right on ya.
As I said, though, all of this takes patience. I might stalk a troop or vehicle for several minutes and never have the opportunity to go for the kill. I may see a perfect target but on my way to it the whole battlefield changes. I may have to stay frozen in a corner somewhere in a base, waiting for that MAX with Darklight to turn the other way.
But I have the patience. It's soooo worth it to whack an enemy or destroy his resources and never be seen. I am a ghost with a big stick

Had a chance to check it out and it seems so obvious now that about the crosshairs. Guess I was too focused on the information (like distance) on the target that I did not notice the crosshairs. Thanks again Rhu.

EstralLC that sounds like a lotta fun. I may have to start messing with those certs tonight. It's sorta like playing a rogue...sneaky and deadly.
Maybe you could start another thread and make a little "guide" to being an inf/eng? Maybe something along the lines of a n00b starting a fresh BR1 toon. I'd love to see that and I'd use it!
Thanks!

I have been playing a pure infil since closed beta. I am absolutely in love with the suit and I can't see myself playing maxes or infin after the fun I've had in a suit.
My recommendations for pure infil are to start out with 2 points in the suit then 3 in hacking. Regardless if you want to be a cc hacking infil or not, adv hacking is clutch because it allows you to get around the monk-inventory problem. I've had cases where I've taken out maxes that have gotten into bases by running back and forth between a hacked equipment terminal and nading them to death.
Once you have adv hacking, you're pretty much free to go whatever route you want. Personally, I went combat engineer because at the end of closed, I was playing around with an infil combat eng which ends up being an interesting combo (surprise spitfires or boomers are fun).
In terms of play style, don't let people get you into the thinking that an infil is purely for hacking. Cloaking allows you to do virtually any job, but have to accomplish it in a slower, sneakier, more methodical method.
One recent example is when my outfit calls out snipers on a base we're defending. I go out and I assassinated an entire hill of enemy snipers with ease.
Another example was of a terran max that was giving us grief outside the base. After working my way behind em, I took him out with a boomer.
See, lots of fun~

I'm glad you're interested, BoxcarWilly. Unfortunately I don't have the time right now to write a guide, but hopefully by the time PS streets I can have something together.
In the meantime, here's another of my Infiltration/Guerilla Warfare stories that I originally posted on the PS Beta forums:
Last night a handful of we VS folks held a tower on an NC-locked continent for almost 6 hours of heavy fighting.
I got a little fed up with their side running full-steam through and from their base into combat while we were sometimes getting cut down at the door of the tower. I decided to even the field a bit.
I worked my way down into their spawning room with an inventory of ACEs and planted each one as a Boomer. I would move off to the side and wait patiently for people to bunch up near it, then BOOM.
Once they got too paranoid I moved out a little, placing a Boomer at each exit door on the way out. I waited patiently until someone came along, then BOOM.
I made my way to the area of the courtyard they were repairing vehicles at. I'd sneak up and plant a Boomer right between the person repairing and their vehicle, then BOOM.
When I found vehicles left unattended I'd jack and deconstruct them.
When it got too hot downstairs and outside I'd go hit the generator with a few Boomers, forcing them to do an ANT run earlier in the hopes that I could jack their fully-charged ANT when it arrived.
Let me tell you, after about an hour of doing this they were all fully paranoid. Nobody just ran headlong anymore. No small number of people were being tasked with finding me. Vehicles were repairing out in the open field where they were vulnerable to any alert MAX. People would search for 2 full minutes before stepping near an equipment terminal. 2 poor guys were left to guard the generator and a MAX was left to guard the spawn area.
Do you see what I'm getting at? Guerilla warfare.
Disrupt supply lines. Terrorize "safe" places. Deny resources. Force a reallocation of people. Increase anxiety.
In short, put a dent in your enemy's ability to wage war.
--------------------
I did this while being surrounded by people that had Darklight implants the whole time. How is this possible?
Think about it. You can't use an implant for a few minutes after you spawn, yet you want to get back into the action ASAP, so you haul butt without those abilites and are ready to rock-n-roll. When you drive a vehicle your mind is on so many other things that Infiltrators aren't a concern.
All I did was try to use this knowledge, a little bit of patience and a lot of luck.
The result is that one person changed the attitude, methods and overall abilities of a large enemy force.
I guarantee you there are a few NC people that were there last night that will never look at their own base the same way again.

Here's the one reply I've gotten to that post so far (it's only about 20 minutes old...):

Thanks for the great posts Estral! I was leaning towards creating an Infiltrator when I start PS (downloading it now), but now I'm convinced. That is exactly what I hoped the class would be
