There are a few problem still in the game, I have fallen thru the ground in my MAX plenty of times when I land to hard on the 2nd floor of a building.
There is still no real reason to defend a base exp wise. One time we had a guy pleading for everyone to let a stealth hacker get thru and hack so we could get exp when we re-take the base, but no one went for it heh.
If there was real motivation to defend a base this game would be practically complete
There is already so much to do, unlike EQ where do are a monk from when you start to when you quit. You can do everything with your character with time. Like if I HAD to be a sniper the whole time, or a gal pilot or practically any single roll I would tire of the game fast, but here you get to try everything you want.
Everytime I log in I have 10 plus options of what to do I can patrol, I can go find a small populated town and snipe (which is great if you can find a really good hiding spot), I can jump in a HART and drop down on some action. And so far it has been pretty easy to find a squad. Some people say wait in the sanc to get a squad, but I only ever wait a min or 2 or til the hart goes off next. Once you land in battle start sending tells between respawns I think there was only one time I wasn't able to get a squad, and that was because it was a pretty small battle and the only people fighting was 1 full squad. If they did have more of an incentive for Defense then you would have another range of choices, you could choose anyone of the centers under attack, and hart in and lend in a hand.
Another thing I think they could do to help the game is make the time investment worthwhile.. by that I mean it looks like it would take someone a max of 3 months to get to br 20, if this game is going to last people are going to need something some incentive/leveling and whatnot to keep them going.
Sooner or later people that have been playing over a year will realize that other than in-game experience they are no better off than the other people who only started recently ago.
The truth is I don't know what the solution is. I know you can't make the long-term player to powerful but they should get something, maybe alot of little things like after 40 br your CoF shrinks a Little bit faster, or maybe at some higher levels it opens more implants I really don't know. I'm not a programmer or a designer, but I can see a problem here and I think the other players will to.
I like and dislike the lattice system, it would be cool to be able to roam free and capture what you want when you want some of the times. But because of it the front lines of battle is alot more clear which leads to bigger and bigger battles, and thats almost always a good thing.
The vehicles air/ground are great, never thought 2 person vehicle where one is a gunner and the other is a driver would work so well.
The turrets are a little annoying, as when the comp controls it they are way more accurate and must have zero recoil than when a player uses it.
Sniping is good, not great but it really shouldn't be. There are to many games FULL of snipers. I would want to be able to move the crosshairs and have the COF shrink faster or something like that, but I know it would cause a stampede of to many snipers into the game. What doesn't make since is you can stafe or move back and forth on while crouching and the Cof doesn't budge. Maybe they could find a middle groud where you lay down and and you can't move only pivot and the CoF stays or shrinks faster. They would have to be careful anything that cause Everyone and their son to be a sniper is a bad thing in my book.
Givin the monthly cost isn't to high (would be nice if it was pretty low compared to the RPG's) I will definatly be playing this game when it goes Live. I like that they still listen to the player-base, esp with design ideas, hopfully the same people in the game now will stay, cause they seem to really be on the ball.
I think the offline missions they are going to come out with is a great idea, gives ya something to do when the internet goes down, and depending on how good they are you can probly learn alot in there. Hopefully it won't be as lame as the VR Room, heh.
I like the way it keeps a running point system atleast in the squad, pretty good way to see who plays alot/effectivly and who doesn't.
I can't wait til they bring in the little things I miss from EQ like hitting R for auto-reply, Other like chat commands. If there will ever be a auto-follow that would be cool, or something new like a squad formation/convoy set up where it shows a shadow of where your spot in the formation is and when you line up with it you it auto stays there til you drive/fly out of it for whatever reason, and other things like that.
Its great the way they balance the empires. The more players on in a empire the less exp everyone gets, who ever thought of that deserves a raise. And the time limit on MAXes and Vehicles was a great idea.
other than those things the game is practically perfect, possibly due to the fact there has been realitivly no "balancing" heh.
I really didn't expect to play any MMOG for a long while, esp one from SoE but it looks like they have sunking their hooks back in me again. The funny thing is if I hadn't gotten into beta testing I am sure I would have never played the game.
