Since a good load of the questions on this board consist of "This is my equipment, what should I get next?" or "I'm starting a monk with xxx amount of money, what are my options?" I have decided to compile a list of the most common upgrade paths for equipment by slot for the use of the public.

This list does not contain anywhere near the full list of what is available for monks, just the most commonly available options. Any additions people think should be there will be most welcome.

* This list contains ONLY droppable items

* The items are sorted by usefulness - Lowest to Highest

* Haste Items do not stack with other haste items - for all those new to the melee class you should really only have 1 haste item

* The order of the list is due to my personal opinion of the items, but is generally sorted by Haste/Effect, Hitpoints/Stamina, AC, Stats/Resists, with weight being a factor in all of them

* The list does not contain Weapons - See Blytzz's parallel weapons post

I would add hiero cloak as the number one non-haste back slot item. Other than that, Nice post man.

Don't count out Spore Covered armor for the low-mid levels. I find the tunic (12 ac, 3 st, .4 wt), boots (6 ac?, 1 agi, .4 wt?), and wristband (5ac, 1 sta, .3 wt?) to be usefull, until I can afford better. Plus, the green leather look kicks ass.

Personally, I like the Dragon Tooth Choker over the Clattering Bone Necklace. Resists are very important high-end... I guess if you were just twinking a monk to play for fun then the Clattering Bone would be good, but overall I'd say the DTC wins with regard to droppable neck items.

I also don't agree with the placement of the Goranga Idol as better than the Idol of the Thorned. If you can handle the weight and truly, unless they're very low level most monks can, the Idol of the Thorned is vastly superior to the Goranga Idol.

There are coterie general boots and cloaks and just regular ole coterie boots and cloaks. I don't see cloaks listed, btw. Heavy, but nice hitpoints.

I also notice that you have no listing of bloodweave armor. It drops from the vampyre castle in Tenebrous Mountains, and is very lightweight. The belt is 0.0, if I remember, and has a buncha stats.

Ok, I'm new to this Monkly Business and I am so thankful for Weet's post here. This will help me immensely as I level up my monk.

However, I'm looking for the same sort of info about weapons.

Before you start to list the equipment you say that there are no weapons listed because they are in Blytzz's parallel weapon post. As it turns out, Blytzz is a prolific (and knowledgable) monk and has many many posts, so I can't search on his name to easily find this post. Could you post the link to his weapons post?

Might be a cool idea to add in nodrop/quest stuff in the proper oder, with an indicator before the item. It would look like this:

hi,

I can't talk about twinking a char or the highlvl game, my monk (lvl 43) is my main. And i think you should add the "Sporali Gloves" to the Hands slot.

It's nocht a great item, but they are the only haste Item (9%) i could get with my monk. You dont have the money to buy a haste Item, if you dont have a highlvl char and i think 9% are better than nothing (they are still my only haste item, but i try to get SCHW now) <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">

The gloves are "easy" to get, if you go with a group into Runnyeye in your high 20 to low 30. I dont think you can get a better haste item at this state.

And cause this threat is also for new player, i think the gloves should be added <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Probably should consider adding some of the "easy" to get ND stuff into the list, but then you start to run into many differences of opinion of what is and is not easy to get that is ND.

I'd like to suggest you make a note of what items are 51+ only (or any other lvl req) and whether it is only recommended (earing of solstice, shaded hide), or required (most CT items, despite saying recommended, are actually required).

Chitinous Belt is a very nice monk belt. Ya it weights 1, but adds 13ac and 5sta among others. Also not too tough to get as people need to hunt the mobs for luclin shards, and they are pretty nice exp for a group of 60s or high 50s now.

Surprised not to see this, Adamantite Band from Lguk, a ring with +75 hp and no weight? Yes its got -10 to MR, which sucks, but 75 hp is like the top dropable ring for hp and its so cheap. Definitely a twink item.

I can't see any twink going for the Idol of the Thorned. Weight 4.0? That's over a quarter of your total weight, in one slot! For 2AC and some STR? No way. Thorned is too heavy even for high-level monks. Think about it, you could upgrade 3 other slots by 1.3 weight EACH.

This is the current mask I wear. I cannot stress how much it helps with fear kiting. On a stroke of luck I found this in Bazaar for 20pp. Only seen it once more a year later for 3K. Not exactly sure where it drops. Very nice item for a monk, especially with no weight and the difficulty in raising Intimidation skill. Just think it's worth adding to that list. :-)

Hi, just looking at the list, cause of free come-back-an-get-hooked deal with the five year party. Said, "maybe there is some new bazaar gear I can get with newer expansions." Seems as though this list still ranks AC higher than HP and Sta. I would think that after our adjustment over a year ago now, that the change would switch around the list a bit. I know I have a Vallon circlet but wear Gorilla helm for the increase in HP. I think that most monks in todays environ. rate HP>>AC. later,
