its pretty fun
i suck at pvp :P
needs a bit of incentive to DEFEND a fort/base, right now you get more exp if you let it get hacked and then take it back than defending it, best way would be increase exp on those actively defending a base being attacked.. make it so exp defending is like 10% more than the attackers get...
the vr rooms are nice where you can try EVERY weapon in the game...and practice strafing and grenade lobbing etc
getting to the action is nice and easy
the balancing between power is nice with the stronger your side is the less exp they get..
the vehicles are well done
the ONLY thing i do not like is the hud cuz for me. its all backwards i am lefty, so mouse in LEFT hand and keyboard in right so i am having to go and reconfigure the entire hud

This game is just monumentally kicking ass. I absolutely love to take a full Galaxy over a base and "para-drop" in. Fun stuff.
But ya you're right, there's just no real reason to defend a base. Would be nice to see something like a small bit of exp for killing a person on "your" base. I think they'll implement something for it, still early in Beta after all.
The best thing I love about this game is that there's no stupid guild politics bogging you down. Everyone in your nation is your buddy, everyone else has to die, and there's no dumb guild leader telling you what to do every 5 minutes. What a breath of fresh air. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

I enjoy the driving, the other day i had a harasser in the back of our squads galaxy and id unload before the base and then drive thru it at high speed to lure all the baddies out the other entrence then my squad would drop behind them and rule.

Lenardo have you seen this web site? users2.ev1.net/~jasonsharp/index.html (http://users2.ev1.net/~jasonsharp/index.html)
It's all about a concept called the "Matrix" and has to do with fixing the problems with incentives to defend bases and being able to one-man capture bases behind enemy lines. I think it will go a LONG way towards making PS better.
Also, with regards to your lefty comments. I'm a lefty too but I use my mouse/keyboard in the righty configuration (keyboard to left, mouse to right). I'm trying to understand what you mean when you say the UI is backwards for you. Can you elaborate? The various UI windows can be dragged around, ala EQ, if that's what you mean. But I get the feeling you are talking more about the key mapping and I'm not clear on what you mean. I have a few things I'd like to change, which is why I ask. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

i've adjusted so that the movements are all on the keypad now and that has helped alot

I have the Freaking hardes time tryin to kill anyone. I have medium assault certification, and the 2nd type of armor you get when you start. I shit you not, sometimes i'll crouch down and empty like 5 freaking clips into someone and they're still kicking. Besides that the game is a blast. I played for like 4 hours last night.
Any tips on sniping? I tried it out and same thing, i'd crouch down and used both regular and armor piercing ammo but even with a head shot i couldn't kill anyone.

The key to gun accuracy is short bursts. Like 1 second bursts. Shoot, let the CoF shrink, shoot, Let CoF shrink, rinse and repeat. Think of the automatic weapons actually being semi-automatic and pull the trigger as you would a semi-automatic.
Len the regular arrow keys work just the same as the WASD keys, so no need to re-map if you want to use them.

I played for a bit last night. Took over two towers and then set myself up on a hill and took out a bunch of baddies at a base. By the time they figured out what was going on I had dropped 5 of there guys. Got to love 8x zoom on the sniper rifle. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">
I'm going to try to get a squad together of snipers and some basic grunt types and do the same thing on an enemy base. Have the grunts there to take out anything that comes after us.

I'm pretty sure they're going to be upping the Nanite silo EXP so that theres an incentive to actually Defend the bases. We'll see in todays patch if they've added anything major towards it.. I hope so because I really hate sitting down in the CC waiting for people to come, I wanna be in my reaver blowing up Galaxy's, Max's and tanks.. not singing songs with squad members for 15 minutes.
First impressions of the game were pretty much what I expected, it has a tribes 2 feel to the game, and i'm extreemly suprised to see how many mature players there are. I've only run into a few tk'ers, and that's usually at 4-5am, and it's newbies running over players w/ the ant since they don't know how to spend cert points.
Commanding is extreemly fun, giving waypoints etc etc... But in no way do I think the game will actually be ready for it's deadline, unless this patch is a HUGE one.

I agree with Turential. While the game is certainly playable if they were to ship what they have today as Gold code the game would flop after a few short months.
You can read about all of the outstanding issues right on the beta boards. Without a few necessary things added and a lot of wishlist stuff added most people (sans hardcore FPS'ers) would tire of the game quickly. Must... have... goals... and incentives.
Say NO to overly-broad EULAs. Your computer is YOURS and so is the content on it. If you do not protect and defend your own privacy then expect it to be violated.

I am pretty leary on paying a monthly charge on a FPS since there are so many online for free.
I really hope they do something that will give the guy thats been playing and paying for the game for 9 months has some kind of advantage over a guy thats been playing for like a week...
You have to have some character development, your character has to grow in someway so that you can see what excatly you have done and how your character has evolved in the last few months.
I think they need more things like the command points, only have it for alot of catagories, and such.
I think it will become very discouraging when a you talk to someone and they have all the same certs as you pretty much the same everything and you find out they have been playing 1/6th as long...
Sure with time you will learn the terrains better, and a few things like that, but i don't think it will be enough to keep players (other than successful commanders) playing for a long enough time.
Is this supposed to be a MMOFPSRPG or just a MMOFPS and they just added the RPG to help bring some current RPGers over...
I hope you guys understand where I am coming from on this.
EDIT: that Zoolooman link was a great read thanks
it is ripe with alot of great ideas, and ways to disable already known exploits.
