I'm sure Thief is great and all, but that's not what I meant by Rogue-like.

Not to get too far off topic...okay, screw the topic...can anyone direct me to a java version of ANY of these games? I die for stuff to do at work, and there's only so many times I can go through the java version of Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy...

I can't download ADOM here, but surely there's been a java port.

Here are some rogue-like Java games I found with a quick seach:

www.freearcade.com/Zplet.jav/Rogue.html (http://www.freearcade.com/Zplet.jav/Rogue.html)

sourceforge.net/projects/tyrant/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tyrant/)

There is no java port of ADOM that I know of, but something like that is in the works:

JADE: Java-based Ancient Domains Engine (http://www.adom.de/jade/index.php3)

Funny I just found this topic. I just started playing Vanilla Angband again like two weeks ago after a year or two away from it. It is amazing how much fun the game is and even more so that I forgot about.

The newest version though is damn tough compared to the older ones. I still haven't made it past a depth level of around 600' or so.

Well, seeing as how the thread has been revived, I'm going to have to say No One Lives Forever 2. Not a long game, but DAMN fun!

I'm a big Zangband addict... www.zangband.org/ (http://www.zangband.org/)

its such a heavily modified version of angband that I think it classifies its own seperate name from angband (tho I did put a vote down for angband)
