UIGrygan v2.0

22/11/2002

Hi friends, and thank you for your patience and your support. Here it is, and I hope it will be working as well for you as it is for me...

I have been quite busy in the meantime and as you may notice on the Screenshot, I have finally finished my Epic! Yes, I didnt think it would be possible but here it is... Thanks to my Guild who helped me all the way and to all my friends in game who made it possible.

And now on to the Whistling Fists ;-)

>> NEW <<

The UI should now work correctly with all the new patches, and not display any error message while zoning.

2 new maps have been updated in the Atlas. The maps of Velious and Luclin now include a detailed view of EVERY zone, with locs of all important points. Thanks to mapmaster255 for his extraordinary mapping work, and the quality of his work.

DESCRIPTION:

This is a monk-friendly UI based on the work of Vertebrae and a few other people, then tweaked and re-tweaked to suit my particular taste/needs. Feel free to play with it...

SCREENSHOT:

http://membres.lycos.fr/grygan/UIGrygan2Screenshot.jpg

DOWNLOAD:

Get it here! (http://www.eqinterface.com/sdownload/fileinfo.php?id=621)

>> NEW <<

This is still the link to the old file... My new one should be called UIGrygan2.zip and be available as soon as they let me upload it, and validate the file.

INSTALLATION:

This UI's specificity is it is custom built to fit in perfectly in 3 resolutions: 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200.

I am also providing the UI_YourCharacterName_XX.ini files, so you don't even have to move around windows, choose fonts, place hitmodes, etc.

EVERYTHING is already in perfect position to produce (I hope) the most convenient and readable outlook.

Therefore a bit of preparation is required:

If necessary:

0.1 launch EQ and switch to the desired resolution

0.2 exit to desktop

Install:

1. Download the UIGrygan.zip file

2. Create a subdirectory of your Everquestuifiles named grygan

3. Extract all the file inside UIGrygan.zip to this directory

4. Inside the Everquestuifilesgrygan directory, find the file UI_Grygan_41_1024.ini (or 1280 or 1600 depending on your desired resolution)

5. Fopy this file to your base Everquest directory

6. Find your own UI_Your CharacterName_XX.ini file, and rename it UI_YourCharacterName_XX.bak (just in case)

7. Rename my UI_Grygan_41_1024.ini into UI_YourCharacterName_XX.ini

8. Open your eqclient.ini file and change the line NewUI=default (or whatever old mod you were using) into NewUI=grygan

9. Launch EQ and enjoy!

I dont use much individual zone maps when online, I tend to prefer to use the detailed paper version for this. However, I do like to have rough zone outlines, portals, soulbinders, banks, and zone connections maps available to me online. So these are the perfect maps for me.

>> NEW <<

The brand new Velious and Luclin maps include a tremendous amount of detail, ALL the zones, plus all the locs to the important points: banks, soulbinders, portals, zones...

Inventory:

The Autoequip area is hidden behind the stats. Just drop your equip there and it will be automatically added to the appropriate slot

For the timer: Arista (www.horizonsoutpost.com/eq/timer.asp)

For the map window: Muse (www.eqatlas.com) and Ramsus (eqtoolbox.not.net)

For the maps themselves: Mapmaster255 (www.mappingnorrath.com)

I hope you enjoy this!

Yours looks almost exactly like the one I made for myself. THe only diff is that I don't use viewport and set all windows except the hotbuttons to 0% faded so that they all go see through unless I put the mouse over them. Makes for good game play.

Man looks cool, I want a new one.

One question? Is the size of teh playfield (that you see, not sure how to describe), already set. I hate having my playfield blocked by all of teh boxes.

Thanks for the support, friends <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">

To answer your question Damudge, yes, that was the whole point of using viewport for my UI. I wanted to move the chat boxes, and player/group info and hotbuttons outside the playing window so I wouldn't have to move them around if I wanted to click on something in my view.

And of course, you dont have to have your inventory and help/atlas window open all the time, I just opened them up for taking the screenshot.

I don't know if I am making much sense but...

Try it out, it should be pretty self explanatory <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

I like it. The only thing that I've changed so far is adding back in the container UI that I use, that puts my primary, secondary, and range and ammo slots onto the top of each bag. Makes it a lot easier. I hotkey my Tinker's Pack, swap out my Baton of Royal Stature for the Staff of Shielding until it procs, hotkey the pack to close it,then repeat the process to swap them back out. Don't ever have to open the inventory screen at all.

And I suppose that if I set it up right, I could do all that with what's in the UI already, now that I think about it, since the weapon slots are on the UI. But I'm used to doing it in the container spots now.

I might also change out the maps for the ones that have all the different maps for each continent, or I might modify the one in the UI to have all the maps that are available. But that's for another day. The luclin connection map that's in the UI is the one that I've been using most often these days, mostly to find the Grey Zone in Mons Letalis. 8)

It's nice... my only complaint is the large amount of blackspace on the left side if you use one of the higher two resolutions.

09-16-2002, 02:42 AM
This amount of black space is in fact where your buffs are going to be stacked in the highest two resolutions, so it wont stay empty for long <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

How do I reset timer? I tried /load foldername 1, but that just wiped the customizations off my UI. Had to unpack the files again and restart to clear. Also, how do I bring up atlas and options menu?

OK...

To reset the timer, you have to type in /loadskin grygan 1 (I am not even sure you need to put the final 1 if you are using the UI_YourCharacterName_XX.ini files I provided). That should be working...

To bring up the Atlas, Alt+W to bring up the Windows box, and click on the "?" Icon, who used to be the Help, and is now the Atlas... You can also get the Options window from there, I believe it is the bolt icon. Or you can just use Alt+O.

Hope that helps,

Great UI Grygan. Takes a little getting used to, but I have a feature request. I'd like the ability to clear the 2 left side output windows. I found the input section for the top one and tried /clearchat but that cleared my main chat window...

Is there any way to clear the output there? Gets annoying when running around. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Well, one idea:

in EQ you could right-click on the main chat, and un-tick the 'Allways Chat Here' option.

Then you could go to every different chat window and type in /clearchat in their inputboxes...

And then you would just have to re-tick the 'Allways Chat Here' option in the main chat window.

That should normaly do the trick...

A bit akward, but until Verant gives us scrolling hitmodes back again, this is the best I can think of...

One more question though, alll of the boxes are on the viewing screen. I am sure that I am playing in the wrong size mode.

So how do I change it? Do I need to be 1024X768 (or whatever)?

How do i get rid of that clock (timer) in the corner? I do not know how to use it.

Thanks

<blockquote>Quote:<hr> How do i get rid of that clock (timer) in the corner? I do not know how to use it<hr></blockquote>

It is in the Pet Window, so you can remove it by Alt+P (I think...) or by going to the window selector (Alt+W) and unclick the Pet Window Icon.

If you want to remove it for good, remove the EQUI_PetInfoWindow.xml file from your EverQuest/uifiles/grygan/ directory, and it will revert back to the default one.

<blockquote>Quote:<hr> you cant resize the chat windows =( i use my own windows setup and the chatbox are locked in one size<hr></blockquote>

I think you can do it ingame by right-clicking on the Chat Window (on the scrollbar for example) an unclicking Lock. However you may need to put the borders of the windows back. To do that, open the EQUI_ChatWindow.xml file, go to the bottom and change the Style_Border and Style_Sizable tags to true for both...

<blockquote>Quote:<hr> My only problem is the viewport. I wish I could use yours, but have the windows see lighter unless I mouse over them<hr></blockquote>

I am afraid I really like the viewport, and changing that would really imply redoing entirely my UI, and I am not ready to do that yet ;-) However, feel free to change everything yourself if you want, and send me a screenshot of the result!

Hope that helps,

I could even get it to email to change my email so I know the email addy was right that I used. And it wont let you contact anyone cause you have no authorization for anything. Its lame, i finally made a stupid yahoo email addy because it wouldnt let me make another under my real email. But I did get the authorization email to my yahoo addy. Well friends...

After my holidays and another week of tweaking the UI after the 16/10 patch, I was almost ready to post the new version...

But it looks like there is another patch today, and they changed the EQUI_Animations.xml file, so I will have to investigate this further to make my mod work again...

Please have a little more patience and bear with me, hopefully in a week or so you will have a brand new UIGrygan 1.1 released.

And because you have all been very nice, I can promise you a BRAND new Luclin map with all the zones, an incredible amount of detail, and every important loc indicated. All on one page. Believe me, you will like this one...

I also plan to include 3 different slider-type timers (one General of 1 hour, one for Mend, and one for the Discipline).

Watch this space, I will keep you posted, and thanks again for your support.

PS: In the meantime, I also took some time to play EQ a bit and finally finish my Robe Of The Whistling Fists, and slay Eejag, so only 3 more fights to go before my Epic...

Bleh I love your UI but I was crashing to desktop as were many people with custom UI's when we were in Raid function mode. Crashed 5x and the loaded default /gasp Oh the humanity~! Anyway, any idea how to fix this? (never crashed with default)

Hey man, awesome UI, of the 20 or so Ive tried this is hands the down the best in terms of appearence and efficiency. I check back here every day in hopes of an update, the default UI is driving me insane. Not meaning to rush ya, just telling you that you have fans <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Grygan, I play a bard as well and have been using your UI. IS there any chance of getting a playerinfo box that includes a pet health bar on it as well? Maybe add that to the INT caster bar??

Thanks!

I have left mine alone since the temporary fix done in the HTML and it still apears to be working fine. The only indication I have of a problem is every time I zone I get the XML error message saying I need to load defaultskin 1 becuse some XML files I am using are not compatible or something like that. Other than that mine seems fine. Oh theres also the fact that that imer colck in the upper right is gone now. I miss that thing i had become dependant on it. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> Grygan any further idea on when your update will be coming? Thanks again for your great UI.

Mekalus,

I am using a bastardized version of a vert mod and i was getting the xml error upon zoning too. Turns out it was related to the new bazaar window feature of searching by price range.

I found the solution on eqinterface...to sum it up:

Basically if you remove the EQUI_BazaarWnd.xml file from your custom UI's directory. It removed the error, restored the functionality of the search by price feature, and still remained in the same graphics scheme of the existing mod.

I moved into a temp folder (insteadof ditching it completely)cause I didnt trust the instructions, bu tit worked fin.

Grygan,

The question I have about this help window atlas, if I wanted to use my own maps(well, lifted from a really nice atlas mod from this site - I forget who, or I would give props), could I simply use the EQUI_HelpWnd.xml file (or whatever the name is) from your mod and just use "my" map files? Or perhaps by renaming my map files to coincide with the file names that your atlas would be looking for?

Saw a nifty compass mod from Rom, check it out here....thought it was a nice idea, might be something to include in your next release.

Just includes +/- above the compass to let you know how your loc numbers will change when going in a certain direction.

Please read the first post or look at the new screenshot and you may guess why ;-)

Anyway, here it is, as soon as EQInterface sorts out their server and allow me to upload it, you should be able to get it... Please have a little bit more patience and hang around here for more updates...

Enjoy!

Woohoo! Thank you Grygan! I am back in business with your UI. One change that I am working on making is adding numbers to the buff window. I really like knowing how many more buffs I can take and still have slots empty to use for bard songs or epic haste etc. Thank you for all your hard work. It is greatly appreciated by this monk.

Ehehe, I am glad you liked it!

EQInterface had some problems with their new server, but I managed to upload the file this mornming. So if you leave them another day or so to approve it and put in on the site, you should be able to download the new version soon.

By the way, if you manage to get this numbered Buff Window working, i would like to see the result!

Cheers,

I believe there are alternative PlayerWindow.xml.WIS and .INT available in my directory... Just delete the original PlayerWindow.cml and removel the last bit from your chosen one...

Or you can just have a look inside the file and change a few things, like EQType numbers correspondint to waht you would like to see... Believe me it is not as complicated as it sounds ;-)

Yes, but you can customize the Inventory slots you want in your HotBox, by reading the HowToCustomizeTheMiniInventory.txt file I provided in your grygan directory, which explains how to change the EQUI_HotButtonWindow.xml file...

Believe me, it is easier than it seems ;-)

... does anyone know about the timer and how it's supposed to work?

</p>

12-06-2002, 01:04 AM
Dikafu as far as I know the timer just counts up to 60 then goes back to 0 so its an hour timer and I use it to time spawns. So say I am in an area known to have a 20 minute respawn then I look at the timer at the time a MoB dies and add 20 to it so now I know almost exactly when the next spawn will take place. Makes for much smoother control of a camp and I can be much more daring with how far out of the camp I am pulling from. I do not know of anyway to manually in game reset the timer in anyway though. Sorry <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/frown.gif ALT=":(">
