I found this link while skimming thru some of the other MMOG forums. Looks legit and if its what I suspect it is, I think you might as well stick a fork in UO. Its dead.

Advanced Character Service (http://support.uo.com/advancedcharacter.html)

For the relatively cheap price of USD $29.95 you can:

<blockquote>Quote:<hr> Purchasing an Advanced Character is a great way to move quickly ahead in specific areas of the game without taking a character through every step of the building-up process. It is particularly useful if you are purchasing this character as an additional character on an existing account and you are already familiar with the development process but you want or need a specific type of character for your account. This service really helps to move you into the fast lane!<hr></blockquote>

Okay, since I'm havent played UO past the "free month" stage two years ago, help me understand this. Real UO players, confirm the following if you will. In UO, everything is skill based, correct? You spend hours building up skills in UO much as you would in EQ gaining levels, correct? This new service they are offering allows you to propel a toon to near master templates instantly for just $29.95? If I am not mistaken, thats like making an instant level 50 EQ toon of your choice.

Frap that! UO is dead.

No need to tell you about the effect of this sort on thing in any persistent world community. EA is really into milking the dead horse (yar, I know, baaad mixed metaphor). Darn the PHB bean counting pin-heads at EA for destroying Origin. Skrew them for cancelling UO2. I pity whoevers left in UO now. The thing is, I wonder when will anything similar show up in EQ? Wouldn't put it past Verant but it will be the death of the game.

nah but its not nearly as time consuming to skill up yourself in uo as it is to level in eq.

I know I said it in another thread, but custom shards are still thriving with enough new scripts to keep UO fresh. One thing that will never happen with EQ. I doubt they will ever allow anyone to modify game engine.
