I have an unusual problem when trying to run a custom UI, and are looking for any advice available.
Since the new skins/UI were patched into EQ I have never been able to get them to work. I have printed out instructions and followed them closely. I thought to myself that there must be something I am doing wrong. I have 7 characters that I have had for a while and custom skins don't work with any of them, but when I create a new character, the customs skins work with the new character. I tested making about 1/2 dozen different race/class combos and the custom UI worked with all of them.
So now I am trying to figure out a way to make them work with my current characters. I have looked at the UI.txt files for my characters and don't see anything obvious that could be corrupt and comparing this with a newly created character as well.
I was thinking of deleting my eq.ini and characterUI.txt files for all of my characters and repatching all of them, but don't know if that would cause any more problems or not.
