Primary changes:

* All windows trimmed to exact pixel widths (no wasted space)

* Buff window text lined up correctly & numbered

* Resists added to the bottom of buff window

* AC & ATK added to player window (requested a lot)

* Mana & Pet bars on player window (for sure)

* Removed invite/follow disband/decline buttons from the group window (moved them off screen)



I used a beastlord in the screenshot so all windows would be available.



Alt-F1 (Pet Info) is the Street Fighter target window

Alt-F (Friends) is the timer

Alt-T (Target) is still a normal target window



To make the screen look exaclty like mine, set all Normal/Fade alpha settings to 100/100. Then change the chat windows to 50/100 (they will be 50% normally, and lighten when you move your mouse over them). Set the buff window to 100/0, and the Pet Info (Street Fighter window) to 0/0. I also recommend setting all your windows to *Lock when you have them positioned the way you want.



I'll be cross-posting this, so here's instructions to install a mod just in case you don't know:



1. Find the EverQuestuifiles folder

2. Create a new folder called whatever (I use "eugee")

3. Unzip eugee_vert.zip into eugee

4. Log in and type "/loadskin eugee 1" without the quotes



Enjoy! Hopefully this is the last skin/mod for awhile, many thanks to Vert for the skin and inventory/spellbook!

Small request if at all possible. Could the inventory slots be removed from the hotbutton bar? I love this mod, but playing on 800x600 im REALLY cramped for space.

That's what the player window looks like for PURE MELEE! If you are a real man (or woman) brave enough to skip that "mana" stuff, you get a little statline. If you are a caster, your mana bar will completely cover up that statline!



Link is still the same, the file is updated.



If you want a normal hot button window with this skin still, just delete EQUI_HotButtonWindow.xml from the mod folder. You'll still get the schnazzy Vert look.

This ui is very nice. One thing I noticed is the resists are incorrectly labeled. Other than that, great work!

Just two problems I have with the UI's in general, and I'm seriously hoping I'm not the only one. Not really a major problem, but I hope someone looks into them.



I can't play the game unless its in 800 x 600. I can't read a damn thing if its anything otherwise. This is not a major problem, but seeing more UI's developed for 800 x 600 would be nice.



The other is the fact that I rarely use the new UI because I can't see worth a damn without the "Paper scroll" texture found in the old UI. The closest I can come is setting the texture color of my chat bar to Red 190 Green 174 Blue 129. It would be so awsome if someone found a way to put that texture into a UI, even if it ment that the chat handle was permanently locked and couldn't be expanded. (I keep my chat adjusted so I see only 11 lines of text anyway just like the old UI.)

I apologize, but I won't be porting this UI to 800x600. Truth be told, I just made it for me, and I play at 1024x768, and decided to share. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> It wouldn't be hard to resize, but a lot of math involved.

I tested it out on my chanter to get the hang of it so I wouldn't have to once again reset all my alpha's and textures to normal with my monk.



Actually I tried it on 800 x 600. The only thing that really gets in the way is the Huge Player VS. MOB bar, but I move that to the top of my screen and put alpha transparency to 0, and now it looks like I'm playing a fighting video game. Any way to remove that in the game? its not a problem, but now and then it could get in the way.



Only one problem.



You left out the spellbook. you have to type /book to swap spells.



Its so minor, but it really can't be ignored.

there is only one thing I dont like about the mod, dont see any autoequip, i really hate foraging veggies then opening 5 bags to find which one has veggies that i can stack it on other than that love it. heh ended up downloading it, then downloading an inventory window that had autoequip.

I just grabbed an "old school style" inventory window from another mod. Problem solved.



I also changed the friends menu back to default, and used the 6 minute count down timer as the pets menu. I had to do this because UI doesn't allow two separate timers. This has really helped out for avatar proc and swamp.



IMO, Sorikk's Hot-button layout, buff window, and his playerwindow mod is the best I have seen hands down. So far this new setup has worked great.



Now if I can just talk him into making the friends menu into Street fighter style hit points meter. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Alt-F1 toggles the Street Fighter window (It's Pet Info)



The autoequip area is still there, just drop an item onto the stats area if inventory.



There was originally a lump of space at the bottom of the hotbutton window that I was going to stick WT, but it boiled down to this--I don't care about it. I'm shooting for a minimal skin with info I check regularly.



HP, Pet, Mn, XP, AA, even Stamina gauges, all things I want to see *all* the time. HP (number) I want to not only see but see very easily (hence the size), AC & ATK slipped in there because of the extra room to the side.



Group buttons--gone, I don't need them. Resists were stuck in there because they are going to be important again. STR/STA/AGI/DEX slipped in there so there was no gap for pure melees.



But I found I like the "divider" space between the weapons, inventory, and ranged better than sticking WT at the bottom. I just screamed "How often do you actually check this?" at me. It's not hard to get it in there, just have to push the mini-inventory up, then stick it in the bottom, but this isn't a change I plan to incorporate at the moment. Every time you loot you'll see your WT anyway, that's often enough for me.

Love this skin, switched from VERT, but one issue, the resists at the bottom of the buff window, I could have sworn you said you fixed them, but I just downloaded it yesterday, and they still show like you screen shot:

Besides they need to fix the timer to allow restarting without "/loadskin X 1" command

TONS of people are saying the resist line in the buff window isn't fixed with the new download. Go into your custom folder and DELETE EQUI_BuffWindow.xml. Then copy the new one in. Everyone experiencing this problem, for some reason or another you are not overwriting the new .xml file into the custom mod folder, so it's not changing it.



Anyway I can't tell you what you're doing to prevent it from overwriting the old file, but I *can* tell you that deleting the old buffwindow.xml first will guarantee the new one goes in correctly. I've had eight people with this problem mention it now--this fixes whatever you're doing wrong.

i dont like the lines in the back of the chat blur, minorly blurs the chat screen.. and the inventory part on the hotkey would be more useful if it was left of hotkeys imho, otherwise great one, gjob

Welcome to EQ: Year III. Options--Keyboard--Spellbook



Just assign a keyboard key to it. I play a bard alternate, not to mention my first character who still sees playtime is an enchanter. Z = spellbook, X = toggle camera, C = sit/stand, V = crouch, B = recenter view I haven't clicked on "Spells" or a similar icon in like 18 months. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif ALT=":p">

CTRL - B for spell book

CTRL - S for sit/stand

CTRL - I for invite

CTRL - D for disband

CTRL - X for camp.

Peer pressure being a motherfucker (and tired of the request in my Inbox) I added a WT line to the bottom of the hotbuttons, and adjusted the inv positions to accomodate. Same download link, the file is updated (timestamp 9/10/2002 9:38 PM). The WT will support up to 99999/999. If you break that you are too uber for this MOD.

You cant do anything like turn pages, and the writing and stuff inside is all f'd up. The spellbook window is fine. I'm assuming you mean the spellbook icon in the spellgems window. If you really want it in there, just delete the spellbook .xmi from your custom folder, and it will revert to the original, but with the Vert skin to it. Spent all night farming ore last night, never got the chance to mess with the window for reading something.

You need to read the whole thread. Delete buff.xml and reinstall the mod. I have no idea why some people are having trouble overwriting this file.

i had the same problem with my buffs,



with a recent patch you no longer need to copy all the files from the default folder, you just need to create a folder and put the files from the mod into it.



That makes things easier, and maybe sometime in the future they will come up with a way to keep your UIfiles from crashing every time it patches.

Excellent mod.



I'd have to change a few things to actally use it (Like remove all stats that aren't in the inventory where they belong, take out the inventory slots from the hotbutton panel which seems to be the trend, shrink the huge hp numbers a little and move them into the middle of my health bar (the big one), rearrange the inventory slots to the old ui style, put an auto equip area somewhere in there, add a cooler looking compass, remove the "Vs" from between the player and target hp bars, put the destroy buton (I like the trash can you added to it) closer to the copper where it should be, and make the mana/exp percentage numbers (and % sign) white, and remove the small hp bar. Oh and I'd hit alt T to get rid of the duplicate target bar.)



Then it'd be perfect. Looks like I've got some XML to do.

Yes, it's ALT-F1, this has been mentioned several times in the thread. I didn't put the trashcan there, the inv and spellbook are 100% Vert's work. The skin is his, the layout of all the other stuff is mine. Most of the windows I rewrote from scratch.



I've tried readin the newbie note and had no problems. Haven't found a tradeskill book to try yet.



As far as all the changes you want to make, knock yourself out. I put HP AC & ATK in my player window so I didn't NEED to look at my inventory to see them. Same with the hotbutton inventory--allows for fast swapping of range item/weapons and twisting instruments without using hotkey slots for them. Those are added functionality. The HP #'s aren't on the VS bar because it looks shitty with them overlain. The %'s are color coded making it easier to spot each one.



And the timer clicks every 6 seconds from the moment it started running. If it started right on the tic then it works with the tics. If it started 2 sec off, then it's 2 sec off. But it's still great for timing short duration spells.



Looks to me like you should go to eqinterface and get the "minimalist" UI. Because you just want to take everything out to make mine a great mod. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif ALT=":p">

I just like things a certain way, and aren't likely to change to a completely different skin without making it look roughly like my old one.



I had previously used this (http://www.geocities.com/kakarrot54/UI.html) as my interface (this was before I fixed the rounded window edges, changed the group/target percentages to white, removed invite/disband/follow/cancel buttons, and leveled to 51 .. also before the patch that let you have the same piece in multiple windows .. my inventory looked like the old ui with class symbol as autoequip), but yours, with my changes, would be the best thing that's come to me since McDonald's French Fries. Notice how I have current hp in my bar. With your big one, I'd be able to do current/max in larger font =)



Oh and btw .. since when could a level 47 monk outtaunt the MT on naggy raids with an IFS?!



Oh, and I hear you can modify interface files while running EQ in a window, and use /loadskin to see exactly how it will turn out

But if you were running EQW then you could just pop up your .xml in notepad, make a 1 pixel adjustment, hit Alt-S, Alt-Tab, and press a social for /load eugee 1, and whammo see your changes. If I used it, that is, cause obviously I don't want to violate the EULA. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/nerd.gif ALT="8o">

While I don't want to start a "is EQW REALLY against the EULA" discussion, I heard it only modifies DirectX and does not give you an unfair advantage over other players.



I heard that it lets you skip the patcher though, that might raise a few eyebrows.

Anyone can skip the patcher, just run eqgame.exe instead of everquest.exe.



EQW inherently doesn't allow you to cheat. EQW allows you to toggle between programs, as Windows was intended for. To a scrupulous player, this means you can run a 2nd EQ window to 2box (more money to verant), run IE, check email, etc, meaning you don't have to log off, meaning you get more addicted (more money to Verant). This is why VI isn't battling EQW like they do ShowEQ. Granted after ShowEQ stopped having a Windows port, they stopped battling that so much, as Linux boxes at the front end of a LAN aren't exactly a household item.



However, to the unscrupulous player, you can also run macro programs and such which are undetectable. These start off doing simple things, like pressing Sense Heading all the time, etc. But they can be set up to trigger off text (afk twisting bard), and much more. This was a big problem in UO (unattended macroing) and making EQ proprietary was VI's answer. EQW removes their protection, which is the problem with it.



Advice to those using EQW: Use it so you can read your email and 2box with one machine. Don't run it from you EQ directory, the only place you agree to let VI scan for files. And don't cry if you get nailed for using it. And don't /tell GM_01 EQW is great and you can't tell I'm running it!

Ah, that explains everything. My EQW-using friend who told me about it is for the most part a computer-newbie who doesn't dream of running macro programs or anything.



Though he has it in his eq dir, I should change that next time I'm over at his house, thanks for the tip.

Awesome UI. Just thought I'd mention, since someone else voiced a concern over how it'd look in 800x600 - My computer sucks and I too use 800x600 resolution *hangs head in shame*. A little clicking & dragging and I had the windows positioned perfecly - the only thing is I don't have a separate window for melee, as the space just isn't there. I normally have others hits off, and I'll get around to playing with hitsmode (did they put it in the new UI yet?) at some point. The skin is awesome, thanks <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">
