Huge announcement in 2006 was the fact that Cryptic and Marvel were going to make a MMO together after they settled their lawsuit, well it comes to pass that now, the mmo is no more:

Eh.. not surprised. The whole thing was an exercise in ego because Cryptic beat Marvel to the punch.

IMO, there aren't enough customers to support two MMOs from that genre. More than likely someone at Microsoft figured that out too.

I think the animosity created between Marvel and Cryptic through the lawsuit had a factor in it as well.

Marvel really went over the line trying to claim copyright infringements when users of CoH/CoV were creating look-a-like characters.

I'm not surprised at all to see it canceled. Besides, I'm not sure how well a game will work cross platform. There are so many advantages in favor of the PC version that you'll be unable to create any PvP content, period. Then you have to worry about the player interactions -- communication, etc. If anything, I think the combination would further segregate the two. I can see it now: "LFG for X zone; PC players ONLY"
