View Full Version : one part of FD fixed

Just noticed tonight, after last patch, FD no longer pauses if you FD and try to get up real fast. Usually we would clear the pause by sitting and then standing real fast. Instead, when you get up from FD, it automatically shows that you get up from a sitting position (like it automatically sit/stands you). I think thats how they got around to fixing it.

yeah, its nice. I dont have to keep the new Iksar models on anymore. The only new model I used was Iksar because they didnt have this problem.

I personally don't like it. Here is why...



If you fd close to a mob, and cycle through sitting then standing, do you get the increased agro range that you do from sitting? Sure, you immediately stand, but if this is the case, then you may run the risk of getting agro from a mob now that you would not have before.



Secondly, the screen bobbing down then up is annoying. It's also confusing because I initially thought that I was beginning to sit, hit the sit button, and sat down. This caught me off guard the first time or two I did it, and it still makes me do a double take. Being distracted while fd splitting tough mobs is the last thing we need.



IMO, Verant cheated. Instead of fixing the issue with their code that caused the pause, they added a useless animation to cover it up and possibly made our job a little harder. The pause is still there, it's just hidden by the annoying sit to stand. I had no problem at all with the pause...I was aware of it and had accounted for it when splitting.

Uh.. it adds no aggro, thats why if you have aggro on a mob and sit, it turns to you, but as soon as it stands it turns away (provided it's actually aggroed on someone else)... and its hardly confusing, i sit pull a lot to keep aggro off casters, if it bugs you that much... well i dont know, dont use fd or something *shrug*

the only problem with that is... at no point are you sitting. you're in the process of standing that's all.

I like the change, effectively removes the period where you cannot move when you FD and immediately get up again (well, for Iksars, Human monks never had the problem afaik).



You're never really sitting.. I don't think it even shows you as 'getting up' to other people.

Human monks did have this problem. If you checked my profile, you will see that I am human.



You say that at no point are you sitting...I do believe you go from prone, to sit to stand. In alternate views it cycles through sitting to standing, and others see me as popping up to sit then immediately standing.



The only way to truly know if you are sitting as far as the game and surrounding mobs are concerned would be to look at the code. However, from the animation I'm suspicious that you do sit before standing, albeit for a very short amount of time.

No, its not there... As an Iksar, while running from place to place, I often practice FD... My FD is hot key'd to 6 and my sit/stand was hot key'd to 7... Before the patch, I would hit 6 and have to mash 7 three times (stand-sit-stand) or else I'd be 'stunned' for about 2 seconds... Same for the case when I would 'fall to the ground', I would have to mash 7 three times to run away or else have to endure a round of attacks... Post patch, I can hit 6 then 7 and not even break stride when running from place to place...

That's because you are human, the pause was a PITA for us Iksars...

The pause was there for us, but it sounds like it was a lot shorter...less than a second, but enough to screw us up too if you expected to be able to move right away. Glad they fixed it for you scaly types. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

I agree that itäs fixed, but now i get another weird thing happening that i haven't seen before. Sometimes when i feign my char doesn't do the feign animation but stays standing. It's a bit annoying as my group cannot see i feigned and i have to tell them.

Looks fun though, i get hunted by some mobs, suddeny i freeze in midstride and the mobs go about their business as if i wasn't there, this is what i call chi powers <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

i have never noticed a pause when the animation goes from feign to "Standing up from sitting" since they changed it. I do not believe at any point you are sitting, as well ^_^



I simply think they fixed the pause, and tacked on an animation at the end.



Just go feign next to a green con KOS mob who won't attack you normally, and see if he attacks you when you get up.
