View Full Version : Return Kick going off?

Hey all, I've gotten this sneaking suspicion that Return Kick may not activate if the Flying Kick button is greyed out. Granted I only have Return Kick at level one, but I haven't seen a single non-triggered kick while I've been soloing, and I've been watching for 'em. I've also done some experimenting with the riposte disc WITHOUT pressing the FK button, and I've only ever gotten one Return Kick during the whole discipline.

I'll probably be able to get clearer results when I get it at level 2, but if anyone out there can tell me that it's bugged now, I won't spend the points.

It has been stated before somewhere that Return Kick being used does in fact grey out the button, and will only work if the button is ungreyed. Result is that it is nearly worthless. Once they get around to unlinking it from your tkick key then it'll be worthwhile.

I don't have the skill yet so I'm not speaking from personal experience, just what others have stated previously.

I haven't seen the button actually grey out when Return Kick goes off, but maybe that's just the new UI.

They fixed Flurry so it works on all levels of mobs, maybe they'll fix this.

/PETITION Yes, I didnt realize that when I procured the Monk Class skill "Return Kick" that it WAS A WASTE OF #$(*&ING TIME!!! I WANT MY AA POINTS BACK YOU #$(&ING MORON MUTHER#$(&ERS. I WANT MY POINTS BACK! I want my #$(&ing POINTS BACK!!!! Lets see... if my Special attack is greyed out it wont go off. If it goes off it greys out my special attack? WHAT THE #$(& were you shoving up your @## that day? Republican Health Benefits Brochures?

I would actually send this petition but Cable Modem Issues and lack of interest have really killed my EQ playing.

This was one topic brought up at the August Boston Fan Faire. It was noted, and the response (don't ask me who, I don't remember) was it would be looked at. And yes, I realize that was almost two months ago (I was there).

I was in a duel last nite, before the patch, and I was not fighting back... I got a flying kick message and damage, and my flying kick hotkey was not greyed out...

Possibly fixed, but still hard to identify/separate it in normal combat...

Let me re-phrase... The Return Kick AA skill WILL function as described -IF- the Flying Kick button is NOT grayed out.

So if you are NOT mashing the Flying Kick whenever it ungrays, a Riposite will have a proper chance of doing a Flying Kick as the attack.

But if you are fighting, and using the Flying Kick every chance you get, the bug was that when a Riposite Check is done, and you would do a riposite, a Return Kick chance is possible - IF the Flying Kick is available. And that would be just a couple seconds possible between you noticing the kick is available and you mashing it again.

Actually I do use the FK button often. But as you might notice I am only Level 54. I don't have the Return Kick AA Skill yet. I am just reporting how the problem was described at the Fan Faire.

And I agree the AA skill is worthless as it currently functions with that "bug". It should not check whether the FK button is available before doing it. It should do it as a "freebie" attack, like any normal Riposite is considered a "freebie" attack.

Personally, when I'm not in a hard fight, I press 2 (my Flying Kick button ... all real monks have 2 for special and 4 for feign ... Korph ducks under the blow of a monk who prefers to have Feign Death in another slot) Every time it pops up.

In harder fights I mash the button FAST, and I'm one mofo of a button masher when I want to be <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/glasses.gif ALT="8)">

2 is fk. 4 is mend. 3 is feign.

I also mash my 2 key nonstop.. the only issue with this is that its tied to my epic (slot 5) and sure makes a lot of sparklies. I get alot from folks asking me why i spark like the 4th of july when im fighting..

Unfortunately, I am level 51, unguilded, and have yet to do any part of my epic beyond the Red Sash.

That being said .. My 1 button is Mend.

Heh, my special attack is 1, range attack is 2, epic is 3, and feign is 4....funny how that works out.

1 is epic, 2 is special (depending on bank), 4 range atk, 7 fd, 8 mend.. and I just use 's' for sit :)

why put epic in 1st slot? i put mine in 9th or 10th slot then go change the key setup for it and have the alternate key on 9/10 setup to 2 .. when i kick i set off my epic automatically.

1. Attack

2. Flying kick

3. Mend

4. FD

5. INCOMING

6. Sit/Stand

7. Disc

8. whatever skill i want

9. Epic

0. Bind wounds

works well for me.. and i dont have to mash a key to kick off epic since i'm going to use FK anyways.. made sense to me.

I also have my keys setup so that when I kick I trigger my Epic. Makes life a lot easier.

the only problem i encountered when linking 2 hotkeys, if you play an other chat and hit ...let's say "2" (linked to 1 (epic for monk)) then it will do the same but with whatever you have linked in that key
