Sadly so, there isn't anyway to change this ourselves. You might want to /feedback to VI about this.
It's something they didn't even think about and would be a bit hard to change, since people are so use to spacific con colors.
I've used a dark background forever, and the con of the mobs is the only thing that I didn't like. Made it impossiable, damn near, to read.
